    If you guys can’t get the appropriate sag then just change out the front and rear springs. I can’t remember exactly how many turns of preload I have on the front, but I believe if I was lighter I would have room to play with up there, But he rear spring would have to be changed. I highly doubt valving needs touching. Again, The dealer should be able to do this for you.

    When I had my 2016 Speed Triple R, the dealer said they couldn't get heavier grade springs for the front or rear.
    It was part of the reason I sold it 6 months later, suspension was too soft and would have cost a fortune to put right

    franchised dealerships rarely get involved in suspension work in the uk. they recommend third party specialists. im riding my bike back from spain from tomorrow so once im back home i will get it sorted my self,first port of call a setup as i know mine has next to no sag at the rear,then i expect a lighter spring rate for the back shock hopefully the front might be ok as its not bad ride wise and set on comfort settings.we shall see.

    What is your front preload set at? You may be able to fix that yourself immediately.

    Fair enough, then just order directly from Öhlins and have a local shop put the spring on. Should be easy enough, I certainly wouldn’t sell a bike over a suspension issue Like mentioned above.

    I found out the hard way that most suspension shops in the UK wont touch the ohlins shock on a triple. I have an s and picked up a new ohlins cheap and wanted to re-spring but the places I tried couldn't compress the spring due to the placement of the remote reservoir. All said yes until they had the shock. Called a few deallers and they advised a replacement.

    I contacted my neatest Ohlins dealer to ask about servicing resprings etc and he said “ no problem”. Suggest you look for your nearest dealer. There are quite a few dotted about.

    Send them a pic of the top of the shock, over the phone they all said they can service, when they got to see the top they couldn't as the triumph shock has the reservoir as part of the top mount so they can't put it in a spring compressor

    I even tried maxton who build shocks and they couldn't with out making an attachment.

    What's with the WTF, I am just trying to let others know what difficulty they may have getting the OEM ohlins shock re-sprung.

    If you can get it done then great. Stupid me couldn't

    I just mean it bloody ridiculous that it’s that difficult to do a spring replacement. Shocks have the reservoir in several different locations. Well, like Taff already mentioned just contact an Ohlins dealer, hopefully you have one nearby.

    That I did and it's an issue with the shape of the top mount used by Triumph, it wont fit in to a standard compressor. The reservoir and mount are one piece stopping it from sitting in the cup on the jack used. I tried 3 specialist including ohlins and they can service and re-spring TTX but not the OEM model made specifically for a speed triple. They can do the street no problem.

    I sold the ohlins and got back what it cost me and the OEM shock so I'm not out of pocket and the maxton setup I went for is amazing. Rode the bike today after putting it back together (bike has only done a 100 miles) and it rides so much better. I am a heavy rider and the revalved forks and new shock done for my riding style and weight are sublime. It's really transformed it into a great bike to ride.

    Odd that ohlins can’t even respring something they made. Anyway, that’s good to hear it all worked out for you.

    in case any one else is looking to get the ohlins done, attached is the top mount to send to see if the compressor they have will take the triumph shock.

    well here's the rub ohlins only make one spring for the ttx rear shock. it sort of ruins the feeling of having supposed premium suspension components fitted to the bike,i expect triumph have a hand in this to be fair. any way all is not lost im getting one made at the more appropriate spring rate and it will cost the same as a spring from ohlins. i wonder how simon p is getting on ?. i will report back in july after i get the spring and get a chance to ride the bike and get it dialled in.

    I’m back! With 0.85 springs fitted front and back (rear is stamped Öhlins) and tweaks to the valves too. It’s taken a bit of setting up (setting sag is a bit different with top out springs) but....
    I’m delighted, I still have firm flickable handling, but the bike feels supple over the bumps, it actually absorbs all but the real lumpy potholes. Previously it would crash over any ripples and even a change in seal. I can adjust to too hard or too soft, before was just hard or concrete.
    Biggest point of all of this was that yesterday I could attack a really poorly maintained local road with total confidence. I’m a happy camper

    changed the rear spring on my 2012 speed r just with coil spring compressors. kais suspension supplied a lighter ohlins spring. it was shorter than standaed which just meant the preload rings were further down the threads.
