So . . . as a tradition when I retired from the Air Force my buddies made me a "shadow box" -a wall display with a flag, my rank, ribbons, etc. as a gift. Well, when I departed my previous home situation under duress I didn't get out with it. That was ten years ago and I have almost nothing of my military "stuff".

Last night my lovely bride gave me this -her and an old military buddy designed it down to the last ribbon as they were worn on my uniform then they had it made (I don't know where). Needless to say I had plenty of dirt in my eyes.

Nice BSA. The placard says the old fellow rode it regular. Note: Not one, but four pans catching the BSA droppings. You would have thought they would have drained the poor thing for display. Perhaps their experience with vintage airplanes makes them think it's normal.

The last side valve I owned was a Suffolk Punch. You stopped it with a metal tab that earthed out the plug. I learnt the hard way to keep my nails better trimmed. I overstepped the rubber band and ended up flat on my back on the lawn with an arm in spasm.

Reminds me of my late father, the number of times his Mountfield lawnmower shocked him ( never laughed so much) was unbelievable. How I miss my dad ....

I saw this mama javelina and her two new tiny babies out on a walk a couple of days ago. When mama saw me watching her and her kids, she kicked it into another gear to find a hiding place. They were trotting along in a wash (desert-speak for a small creek bed that runs only when it rains). Neither Mr. Sandi nor I have never seen baby javelinas this young and tiny before!
