It makes my blood boil when I see the salaries of our professional athletes in the States. An average NFL player gets $2.1 million per year and the top paid player gets $37 million per year. They also get millions in endorsements and appearances. Many of them aren't satisfied with that, so they go out and car-jack, murder, sell drugs, or beat their wives for some extra excitement. The average person in this country can't even afford to go to a game.

For seriously risking their life, last year's Senior TT rider could earn a maximum of £18,000 for a clean race win from start to finish. They ride with the passion and big hearts that 'professional' athletes in other sports had many years ago.

 

I completely agree. Most sports are only about the money these days. I'm not sure that some of the TT riders can even cover their expenses. And now - back to the thread
