"Birthplace of Ava Gardner" is their claim to fame. There's even a tiny Ava Garner museum right across from the country courthouse. Downtown's kind of nice actually. There's a creek and a greenway running through the N side. The SE side of town is the dodgy part. We're thinking about buying a place out there to get even further away from the bustle. This whole general AO is an extremely popular place these days for people wanting to drop anchor. Kalifornians escaping what they've done to their home state are driving property prices through the roof. Unfortunately they haven't really learned their lesson and they bring their voting habits with them. They haven't really gotten to Smithfield… yet. Amazon's moving in soon and that's going to change things big time.

Morehead's where a lot of people around here hit the beach. Kind of a spring breaky vibe at times so it probably lives up to its name now and again. I don't get driving 2 hours each way in bumper to bumper traffic to bake in the sun all day, but I grew up about a mile from the ocean where we took it for granted. It was nothing to grab some snorkeling gear or a board and pedal down to the surf after school. There's a couple dive boats in Morehead that do trips like 3 hrs out to a U-Boat the USCG sank in '42. IIRC it was depth-charged. It's in about 100ft of water and a haven for Sand Sharks. I've done it once. It's a long day but worth it.

Same here. EVERY Friday night and Saturday morning during the summer... a bumper to bumper parade of Philly types headed for the Jersey Shore.

 

These could easily be in a branch of Anne Summers as Halloween themed male sex toys. I’ll take the size nine m’am.
