Yep, the very same rothwell.
The proclamation takes place every year and a fight is still on between us and the Desborough enemy but it's tamed down a bit now as the police only allow 2 mins for each scrap at each pub.
No dragging a boat through the town though like they used to (before my time!)
I did the pub thing once as was totally drunk by 8am and decided that was the last time.
At least, until the next time....
Pubs are (were) open from 5am for a week and because it's a proclamation/royal degree, the police cannot close it down but they definitely don't want the pubs to open.

Ha, only 2mins. I really can't remember the name of the pub but in the middle of the weenie high street on the North side, got banned cause the scrap became a bit of Bikers vs Rufty Villagers and full on. Got banned from the whole of Rothwell by the old bill even though I lived there. I was allowed to be 'at home' or 'out' - when 'out' it meant out of Rothwell. So I moved. LOL.

I seem to remember they had the most dangerous zebra crossing in the country - in the middle of a blind double bend on the main road. Blimey, over 40 odd years ago.....I am very old though
