I went to the local zoo, there was a cage of baguettes, a cage of bagels and a cage of sourdough... they were all bred in captivity.

Know Gardenstown very well, used to live at South Cushnie, Gamrie. Particularly liked Pennan, I think that's where parts of "Local Hero" were filmed ?

The Norse when raiding (as ‘Vikings’) basically employed the age old tactical principles of Surprise and Concentration of Force.

The UK in the 7th to 10th centuries was dotted with small villages. A single longship with 40-80 crew arriving unexpectedly could massively outnumber local opposition and be gone before an effective defence could muster.

Viking armies fared much less well against organised opposition from Alfred the Great to Harold Godwinson. Stamford Bridge (NOT CHELSEA!) saw the locals achieve their own surprise and kill maybe 80% of the invaders. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stamford_Bridge

It was slightly before my time so I have genes from both sides.

I found out earlier why giraffes have such long necks. Its because their head is a long way above their body.
