went for a proper test ride today, both levers are bent, ignition lock dust cover plate missing, right side handlebar bent, right foot peg loose, brake pedal bent and cracked, the fan is running all the time whenever the engine is, don`t trust the speedo one bit or I was doing 160km/h in one straight (really wasn`t), the engine fault light is burning and I feel it might be losing some high end power. Something fishy with the handlebars too, hit my thumb on the tank pretty bad while doing a U turn... At least I know something about the riding position, tail`s too high and bars too low, the back of my helmet is touching my neck, the position is pure murder to my wrists at town speeds but whilst I get it going it eases up quite a bit thanks to the lack of the fairings...

I`ve also registered to one Finnish Triumph forum, posted pics of the bike there and low and behold, it got recognized! One previous owner said he still has the original rear seat cowl in the shelf, and knew to tell the bike has been owned at some point by a Finnish ice speedway world champion!

*bang* ouch! Hit the language barrier again...

Is there other kinds? Not sure how things are there but here a helmet is required by law, and even if it isn`t I`d NEVER EVER ride a bike without, that`s just about the stupidest thing I know of.

ATGATT and so forth for me...

If someone has a saddle or an exhaust that'll fit my bike I'd be interested, probably going to find more needs too, rear brake pedal comes first in mind. Naturally all should be in good condition, don't mind re-upholstering the saddle but the can has to be scrapeless and dentless.

I'm afraid he was being rude

    1. the top of a man's penis, or a hermaphodite's penis I guess as well. Also reffered to as a purple helmet.
    2. A condom, as worn on the head of your penis, perhaps a more accurate term.
    3. A kevlar, or plastic covering for your less important head, as worn while riding a motorcycle or visiting a construction site. Or oddly, enough, while exploring actual caverns. See spelunking."

eBay is apparently a treacherous place... Went there to look for some parts, really just look...

    Ordered:

    -Used original exhaust
    -Bar end mirrors
    -Koso RX-2 gauge cluster

Can hear my Visa weeping in my jacket pocket from here :D

    Still to order:

driver seat, found only `01 ones which is different from the renewed `02 model.

Woodcraft riser clip-on set, gotta go measure the front shocks tomorrow to be sure about the pipe diameter as I`ve found two versions both equally claimed to be the right one... I believe when I measure myself...

One thing keeps bothering me, the front fairings that came with the bike:

Is that a Daytona mask at all? I`ve searched pics fom the internet for hours but just cannot find a single one with that kind of front light and the one-sided air intake snorkel. Anyone recognize it?

Looks very much like a TL1000 nose cone to me?

It's close, but all tillys I could find have dual snorkels, this has only one.

Not that it matters, it's going into the skip anyway, just would want to know...

Got it, Aprilia RS250. So not exactly a daytona fairing ;)

Propably not a whole lot happening in the near future, got a wheelbarrow full of goodies coming from all corners of the world and gonna order more today, basically can't do much before they start coming in. Washed both bikes today and went to srape some knees with the daytona, a few accidental wheelies and a partial rear wheel lock due to premature downshift got me convinced that there's quite a bit of torque in the engine. And something really fishy in the steering, it CANNOT be working the way it should... also noticed that the first gear is ludicrously long!

    Question!

Will a coolant hose kit marked to fit 2002-2006 speed triple, or a '04-> daytona fit my bike?

    Answer!

04-> daytona kit has different thermostat bypass hose but can easily be modified by cutting the lower hose, putting a TEE in between and re-routing the bypass there.

Should probably be working too and not just browsing the net...

Is it normal for these bikes to mis- and backfire on cold weather before the engine warms up? I went for a spin the other day and the first say three-four km:s it backfired pretty much every time I let go of the throttle and hesitated with a sputter before taking more until the engine warmed up and it went away. Do I have a clogged choke circuit? Do I have a choke circuit at all or how is it done on these? The outside temp was at +6c.

Ordered some more bits again, gonna be a sweet bike when I`m done, but the costs are already stacking up... Lucky I got some savings stashed up for this project to get it exactly the way I want. Bums me though having to wait probably till december to get the project properly started...

Hey Mattson. Looks like you have an interesting project on your hands there. Perfect for the long drawn out winter no? ;)

I can tell you what should be on the other end of that cable:
OBD Cable USB: Diagnostic Tools & Equipment | eBay
    Overview

I'm running a stock Sprint RS with the latest OEM map on mine (runs a lot better with the latest one than it did with the original). Also there's plenty of tuned maps about for when you get a fruity exhaust system.

If you need any help with acquisition of parts from this little island do drop in! :) Good Luck :upyeah:

Thanks man! And yea that project is gonna keep me busy during the winter whenever I'm not snowkiting ;)

I actually already got the answer to that one from another triumph forum (I'm a forum-a-holic, Im a member of probably nine of which I regularily use five-six), bought an OBD reader and looked into the memory - got 15 fault codes, wrote them up, erased, went for a ride to see what all comes back and only the" temp sensor value too high "did. So you think that ugly ass kawa can might be playing a part in the cold cough? We'll see when the new (used) oem can arrives, it's already on the way. I do have an old laptop im planning to revive for garage use and might look into that usb cable later on. And thanks for the offer but most of the companies do send to the EU region nowadays and the rest Ive gotten from ebay, got probly 500e worth of stuff coming from all directions...

As said i have to wait til december to start the teardown because of some coming garage arrangements, don't wanna lose half of the loose bits on the move, and in the meantime am trying to order anything and everything i might need in advance.

Got an exceptionally nice "stolen day" today and since the wifey was out with the baby and the dog visiting her parents didn`t bat an eyelid figuring out should I go for a wee spin after work...

Had a blast and learned a lot about the bike and it`s caracteristics. Gotta take it back to the garage tomorrow *sniff*, got the first of many, many packages today holding some blue braided wire "sock", also got the announcement SMS that my gauge came but when I went to the mail to get it the whole cage was missing so basically no one knows exactly where my gauge is right now, this is EXACTLY the reason I`ve been trying to order everything in advance...
