Like the look of that Jez. What is the maintenance on something like that for personal use, annual service/certification?

Nice one, Jez. Like your style. I'll no doubt open a conversation, nearer the time, once I start the search for my two post!

Can't blame yah J.D., anything below 50 F. I have a hard time getting any work done. Mine will have both heating and cooling as this area temperature range is -15 F to 115. Was not going to add a wood stove, but decided to, since I don't want to pay people to haul off Deadwood anymore from my trees. Being able to cool it off to 83-85, and some humidity control will help some project results. Dust filtering is a bonus, no bugs at night double bonus.

This is the part of California you don't see in the movies. Our temps usually range from low 20's to over 110. Last year it hit 117. We get freezing weather every year. Snow every 4-5 years. It is now 7:15 & the snow has fully covered over. We are at 3200' elevation. Thanksgiving we got our first snow this year. Just enough to make it somethimg special. ...J.D.

Whereabouts in Ca. are you WW? I have a close friend who lives near Placerville - not anything like the same elevation but high enough to see snow in winter.

San Bernardino County. LONG way from Placerville. Phred. You know most anything in the way of weather here lands in your lap in a couple of days. This one is taking the northern route headed up through Vegas. Know what it is like back there. My family are all from St Joe, Mo. Lived there a few years when I was a little tike. ...J.D.

DD: It could be pretty much it's own country. We are something like the 5th. or 6th. largest ecomomy in the world, but we are only a state. With people living here from all over the world and very expensive housing, the problems are just as massive. I live about 1 1/2 drive out of Los Angeles in one of the few less expensive areas. Woke up yesterday to the roads being completely iced over. No traffic moving until about lunch time. ...J.D.

News travels slow. Hippies ? Maybe 50+ years ago. :D

As for size. Lets see. I am about a 2 or 3 hour drive from the Mexican boarder and about maybe a 10 hour drive from Oregon. It would take maybe 7 hours east to west from Arizona to the Pacific Ocean. If that gives you some idea. That is at full highway speeds. ...J.D.

Got a nice winter day today [ Saturday]. Spent most of the day and all the energy I had clearing a space to move more of my mechanical shop over to the heated area. With the help of the wife I got my metal lathe, it's bench, and machinists chest relocated. If time permits maybe I can get the pedestal grinder and drill press moved this week. Kind of hard to machine anything without a stable temperature to work in. Especially aluminium. Tolerances get all "wonky" with too much change in temp.. Making progress. ...J.D.
