Probably not, Callumity, seeing that this is a motorcycle forum. Not to disparage bikers' grammar, mind you, particularly that of those herein. ;) In fact, this forum seems to be comprised of a particularly literate bunch o' bikers. :)

True @Callumity We aren't far from Glesga here in the 'Arrochar Alps' but we are far enough although I know that southern Argyll isn't really considered truly 'Highland'. Just wish that there weren't so many folk from Glesga who know about this secret wee corner of the world. You know that, despite the short distance from central Scotland the last native Lochgoil Gaelic speaker only left the village in the 1940's (she moved away with her husband who took up a post as a gamekeeper elsewhere) and now, sadly the unique local dialect of the Gaelic is gone. Of course I'm an 'incomer' myself having been born and spent my early years at RAF Leuchars and moved around a bit throughout Scotland since then before settling here with the missus ten years ago.

    Well this doesn't bode well.
The week's weather is predicted to be dismal, with nasty intervals. Hope springs...well only at spring. I will keep the riding gear at the ready for possibly, yes, possibly, there may be a glimmer of sun and warmth next week.

Ach get some ice tyres on and you will be just fine @Hobnail :)
I know I'm a bit weird but I look at the picture you put up and wish I had some of that here. Apparently my DNA scores somewhere around the highest levels of Neanderthal DNA found in modern humans and I have typical Neanderthal physique of long, stocky body and relatively short legs and arms which, apparently, are characteristics suitable for the cold climates of the Ice Age in Europe plus I have always had a reasonable coating of well, erm, ..... Blubber so I embrace winter wholeheartedly although I must admit I have never had any desire to slide down the hills on a couple of planks or a de-wheeled skateboard.
They promised me that with global warming Scotland would become colder but it hasn't happened. Lord the last reasonably cold winter here was in 2010-2011!

Couple of years ago I was speaking to a fellow in Iceland and he was saying that proper Winter is disappearing up there too these days!

    Yeah, I guess...
I fancy a nice Scrambler for that episode. Last year, while having a beer, near the fire at a pub during a surprise blizzard, we thought it would be exquisite to have a Tiger with snows and the riding gear to boot. I actually gave it a thought, but then reality set in. This is just the start. Temperatures at -5C with snow are delightful, but drop it another 10 and it gets dicy. We have a lot of cold dry days out here, which are ridable, if you can get the silly thing to start after 8 hours in the carpark. Simply too much trouble for lazy pukes like me.

    Today is the last day.
Overcast and cold, but not freezing. Changed the pilots in Virginia to 42. Drove around and no popping on off-throttle. 2.25 out on mixture. She was harder to start, but ran well in the cold. Took in the park and memorial. The last ride to work was a week ago. Chilled to the bone.

    This season is over.
Packing up all the gear, mothballing the bikes, covers over everything.
    Finish.

May spring arrive early for you, @Hobnail. Beautiful photos. But a sad day putting the bike up for the winter.

Do you use a semi colon in an aggressive manner when required? It's a bloody good tool in a high horse rant to let people know who they're dealing with.

This is why you can't moderate Sandi. Just sayin.

Whew! Thank goodness for that, ChasChas. :joy: Your use of the word "moderate" did make me think, though. Are we looking for moderators or administrators? Seems that could be an important distinction. Just sayin. ;)

    Word sister.

They're wriggly buggers at the best of times.

As we're in a semi safe space, I'd say an administrator is required. As I've said in other threads, keys to the shed and an ability to keep the lights on. Primarily
