Yes mate, it would have been the first family holiday for 6 years with all four children and respective wife and boyfriend. Had a chateaux booked in the Loire Valley (cheaper than a cottage in the New Forest!).
Had my daughter been able to take her test (cancelled because of the virus) we would have ridden down together. Bugger!:mad:

That is a shame! What bikes your daughter going to get once she’s passed her test?

I fear this is not the last of cancellations this year Steve. It’s bloody depressing.

I know! Should have been down in Dorset for a week as of this Thursday staying in Corfe Castle (the village not the actual castle) but that's buggered up as well!

Not holding out much hope for our Spanish trip if I'm honest. :(

Me neither, I’m in two minds whether to just cancel everything for this year. I’ll give it another month before deciding.

As you say am pretty sure this year will be a write off for foreign travel :weary_face:

Even in “Normal” times you hear about people coming off aeroplane flights and blaming the air con. for sore throats and coughs etc.

At least I have Cyril the camper van , so when this is over with and we can travel, I’ll be off. Or alternatively pack the bike and just head off somewhere. But no way am I going anywhere near an airport.
Germany is only a couple of hours away by road so that’s where I’ll probably end up.

Yep it all fecked up. I’ve got GMU, a holiday day to start end If July and then our Spanish trip. Not holding much hope now for any holidays this year.

    BonnieCat,
Do you have a small motorcycle that can travel with Cyril?
Always looks appealing to me when I see camper vans with little Mobikes on the back, rather than Mountain bikes.
    Cheers,Ken.

The van has a tow bar so all I need to do is get a regular trailer. That’s the cheapest option. However trailers seem to be quite high and the VSTROM is fairly heavy, too heavy for me to wheel up a ramp. I do have a restricted scooter (restricted to 30kph). Then again that’s quite heavy too but I could probably just about manage to push that up a ramp.
The other thing I was thinking about was an electric bicycle. The van does have a cycle rack on the back.
Those special scooter holders are quite expensive. Lots of different things, just need to find the cheapest and best option.

When we did our rented camper van holiday last year, we met a couple who had managed to attached a Honda Grom to their van by way of a four- bike bike rack - apparently the weight is about the same. He told me horror stories about trying to trailer his Fireblade around Spain and it coming off the trailer at one point!

    OMG Steve, don’t!!!

I’m thinking the electric bike is maybe the best idea. No need for trailers and I get some exercise too.

We bought two folding electric bikes last year after meeting a couple at the campsite who kept them inside their van. We can just manage to get both in the back of the Qashqai so can take them away with us.

So far had to cancel a weeks trackdaying in Spain, looks like June's holiday to France will be off as well.
Just waiting to find out about GMU and September holidays.....:(
