He's a pretty tasty rider too - especially considering the weight of the bike.

Always a painful time when you drop your pride & joy, both ego wise & financially usually.
Ive dropped 2 bikes in my life, both times forgetting to remove the front disc lock....spectacular splat or what.
I dropped my RS sprint @ work....embarrassing or what??? It was as if superman had possessed my body for a nano second as the speed I picked the old girl up was impressive to say the least....superman has now gone away & oldman has returned. My bikes are so secure that even I have trouble riding off on them

 

I got em on my tiger. R&G ones . Not the cradle type, but the ones that bolt on near the cyl head....hope to never find out if they are any good tho.

Well I havnt done a lot of 2 up lately. But how about a high kerb / step ( if there's one nearby of course ..Doah) of some sort so that the climb up to the rear foot rest is reduced and subsequently the amount your beloved has to climb is also reduced too.?, just a thought & possibly impossible to do.

 

I think the side stand method could over balance the bike with disastrous results

Best thing I've found for slow speed control is figure of eights ( not to be confused with pieces of eight as that's the money crispey uses to pay for the tea at the Ace cafe).
Start off wide and in a open space. Very slowly over a long period of time get them tighter, don't at anytime use the front brake as this will alter the direction the bike wants to go...back brake only...& only if you need to. Throttle & clutch control.
I used this technique when I was practising for my Rospa exam. The guy who took me out had a pan European & could ride it about 2mph in car parks with total control....bloody show off !

 

They are r&g aero crash protectors, just thought they looked better than some cradle type & the rubber bits are replaceable, so you havnt got to replace the whole lot....hopefully!

Steve hopefully the pain of dropping your bike as at least lessened by now and perhaps this story will also help. When I owned my Tiger 1050 they brought out the Tiger Sport and unbeknown to me my mate who rode a Rocket 3 quite liked it so traded in his R3 for the TS without telling me.
Instead he text me to meet up at a local café for a cuppa and a chat. I arrived at the café early and because he was late, we live 50 miles apart I decided to ride along the route to check whether he hadn't broken down. After going so far I stopped and checked my phone and I found a text telling me he was now at the café. So I made my way back to it. As I approached I could see a few people standing around at the entrance to the café car park and then I spotted this bright red bike on its side.
My mate was late because that morning he had traded his R3 in for the TS and an hour after leaving the showroom he manoeuvring in the car park.
This resulted in the top fairing cracking, a front indicator broken, a grazed engine cover and a broken gear lever. This was only after owning the bike for an hour. Not a good day for my mate or me as I really could feel his pain. Today he still rides the same bike with a grazed engine cover and cracked top fairing and although neither of us laugh much when we remember the incident it does not appear today as it did on the day it happened. He's still not convinced however that the forks aren't twisted though.
If you go on to Youtube your find a fella riding his Suzuki out of a showroom and dropping it so at least my mate didn't set
a record by dropping it so quickly after buying it.

 

I dropped my brand new Suzuki GS850 after 3/10 mile out of the showroom on some diesel. Not happy, not much damage as it was a about 10 mph turning right at traffic lights.

Back to dealer for a new crank cover and indicator.
