Struggling to get a smooth ride on my Bonneville

Thanks jhero, I'm nipping it over to Staffordshire Triumph on Thursday and hoping to get a ride on another Bonneville for comparison purposes, either way I'll have the throttle looked at amongst other things, I'm really hoping this gets resolved.

Rode over to Staffordshire Triumph today, typically the problem did not show itself, nor has it all week long!
I told them that the bike had been very difficult in relation to snatchy throttle, smooth down changes and low speed work.
One of their men took it out for 15 minutes or so and afterwards took it into the workshop for another 15 minutes or so.
The verdict.............................................nothing wrong and no faults shown on the diagnostic check.
This is re-assuring in one way, at least I know nothing is U/S.
It seems as though the transition from long term VFR ownership, followed by 4 years away from bikes, to Bonneville is not as straight forward as I'd anticipated.
I'm happy with chain tension and throttle ' slack '
Perhaps I'm being too fussy and think I'm a better rider than I really am?
I've got to get to grips with this, a challenge I wasn't anticipating but I've resolved to stop belly aching and get on with it.
In the rush to get over there I forgot to pick up my driving licence so any road test option for comparison purposes went west.
Not the outcome I'd wanted but it is an outcome and plenty of food for thought to boot.
