I have seen one in the flesh now and throw my leg over it and it is a sweet piece of kit. Unfortunately once again, both the seat height and overall stance and sitting position is not really in proportion for a 6'3" broad shouldered monkey like me, I looked like I'm choking a 125cc goat again. Seating position is great, just like with the street scrambler and will be comfortable to ride, also loved the handlebars, taller and a touch wider. Lovely bike!

Well, I a spoke to my friend at Herts Triumph, and I'm down for a test ride as soon as the bike comes in. He's already ridden it and maintains that it doesn't dislodge the Thruxton R from his shopping list, but I suspect that I'll prefer the Twin's riding position. Can't wait, though!

I attended the Triumph Bulldog event last night. It was very well attended and they have also just completed a major redesign and refurb of the dealership which looks great. I loved the Speed Twin... looked great, felt comfortable, mostly everything I touched felt good quality. What would I change to the standard bike?.... well I'm not keen on the black exhausts, one of the STs on show had V&H pipes which looked so much better. The optional headlight cowl is a must have too, and I'm not keen on the levers which looked a little cheap. Other than that the stock bike looks fabulous. I'm booked in for a test ride tomorrow. I was pleasantly surprised by the Scrambler, looks so much better in the flesh, but not really my thing (and the riding position was too similar to my Ducati Multistrada), but out of curiosity I am also taking the Scrambler for a test ride tomorrow too, just to see what its like to ride on tarmac.

Don’t think you will be disappointed with speed twin ride, I loved it. Yep the scrambler looked very good, but to tall for me.

Tested it, loved it, then threw my leg over a Thruxton R.

    :)

If I were a wealthy man I would have one, lovely looking thing but utterly impractical for my purposes:(

Those might possibly be a pair of £540 T120 accessory wheels that have been fitted (PART NUMBER: A9648045).
I’m just wondering what the cast Speed Twin alloys are going to cost for anyone thinking of going the other way. Probably twice that!

Had a ride over peterborough triumph with my mate yesterday to have a look at the street twin,i was expecting something classy looking[have to say the grey colour didn't do it any favours] i was really disappointed, looks imo minimalist and cheap, whilst my mate was looking at it as he has a bonnie 1200 i thought i would go out on his for a spin, whoever on here says they prefer the 865 to the 1200 i totally agree, didn't like it and the rear shocks are terrible, back to the speed twin, not for me,built down to a price real cheap seat.

I do like the overall look of this bike, with the exception of that rear end. I think there are a wide and varied collection of opinions here. Isn't that is what it's all about? Lovely to have so many choices, Just like with anything else. One more opinion.

We are on the same track. What I should have said was that The rear fender is ok, it's that gaudy 3ft extention to hold the license plate that has to go! I like the looks of some tail tidys' , But, I also prefer to keep the fender for the reason you stated.

Apologies as I'm resurrecting a bit of an old thread...however, just interested to know who eventually decided to get a Speed Twin?

    Obviously I did! :)

Got mine in April 2019. Saw the image of the red one on the Triumph website and it was love at first sight. If it had been any other colour I probably wouldn't have looked twice. No regrets.

I bought one in May 2019. We toured Netherlands and Spain on it, as well as a couple of long weekends in UK. Loved it, but struggled to find enough room on it for me and Mrs Tallpaul, so sold it this Summer.
