Yep, Minnesota is filled with farmers whose heritage is German or Scandinavian it seems! I worked in Edina a couple of summers back when I was in college. My little hometown of 400 is in the southwestern part of the state.

My bike's mileage is at 2150 currently. I really love the Speed Triple. I had a 2016 Thruxton R prior to the Speedy and a 2012 Thruxton prior to the 2016 Thrux. I have a couple of Harleys in the stable too. Thanks for your input on this topic. Enjoy that bike!! And the sun when you've got it.:)

Well there is no way to know if it is ok unless you try it out Sandi. You’ll have to put some load on it though, like 9000 + RPM’s in 3rd and 4th gear to see. That’s the only time it does it on mine. I’m aware that a lot of people don’t ride like that, and I’m not saying you should, but I do and it’s supposed to be able to handle that. If you don’t ride it hard then I doubt you’ll have an issue. If you decide to give it a go, Let us know how it works out. I hope yours is fine.

Well, if this does happen it will destroy your gearbox. Sure the warranty will cover the issue but you’re now stuck with a bike that has had chunks of metal in your oil that can damage other parts of your engine. So if you’re ok with that, then I guess there is nothing to be concerned about. Personally I don’t think we should have to be conducting the testing for Triumphs quickshifter.

Thanks, Steve. I really do appreciate your input and advice and how you've shared specifics of your experience. I'm going give it a go and will let you know how it works out. I hope it's fine, too. We shall see. Time--and riding--will tell.

I agree. We paid for it and it should work as advertised, that’s my point. So I think it’s only fair that I should be able to receive a refund for the defective part that doesn’t work as advertised. I will then take that refund and put it towards purchasing a quality quickshifter.

I definitely agree with that, Steve!! I would be way more interested in researching and purchasing a reliable functional aftermarket quickshifter if I had refund money for a part that doesn't work, as you put it so well, as advertised.

Have a look at Aprilia’s quick shift system. It seems like a far more advanced set up.

    Hi Guys,

I have just been riding mine for the last couple of weeks to try and get a better understanding of the issue.

I can confirm that there is still some issue shifting 4th-5th.

However, I do NOT have a single problem, wearing my light weight TCX boots (like converse). I ONLY have this problem wearing my proper chunky boots.

In riding a little more, I think that the issue is to do with an incomplete shift movement / non-full-release of the lever between shifts.
I'm not making excuses for triumph as this shouldn't really be an issue, but it does seem to be more down to rider factors than mechanical once you have the updated shift arm.

I am honestly getting 1 in 50 miss shifts, and to be fair, that's pretty good. I think some of these are down to dog-dog shift issues, which would make sense. releasing the power and re-applying it ALWAYS allows another shift, so its not jamming the gearbox.

Also it is still a FAR better system than on my MT-10sp.

I suspect the issue could be fixed with a software update as there are no problems at all with clutched shifting, or even manual rev-cut/ blip.
But I think that there could be fundamentally something wrong with the design of the shift mechanism too, but only in a way such that it causes an issue in conjunction with the shifter. This may be due to the design being carried forward from way-back-when quick shifters and auto blippers weren't even a consideration on the 1050.

I am going to look into removing as much play in the linkage as I can, to try and get a more positive feel. There are some companies which make these 'gear shift supports' which I think could be beneficial, regardless of what triumph do, or don't do.

I will let you know how I get on!
Other than this single problem, the bike is damn near flawless for me.

Look what’s yet arrived fresh for some testing!!

I’m off up north for a ride with my uncle this weekend so won’t have any answers for a good few days, maybe a week or so.

It’s very disheartening to hear all the QS/gear box problems. However, I’m approaching 2000 miles and no false neutrals. The bike rides great, no problems. The fix seems to work. Hope you get your bikes sorted soo. Stay safe.

I’m glad it worked out for you. The fix did not work for me unfortunately. So there is obviously more going on there. Have you been putting the gearbox under extreme load when using your shifter? Because that’s the only time that mine would fail.

Hey Steve, I'm having the same results. New Linkage was Installed a couple weeks ago and I'm still getting false neutral. My dealer is blowing me off at this poiny, saying that it's the way I shift that is causing the issue. I even replicated the false neutral on the dealers dyno! They then said that the false neutral is harmless to the gearbox and clutch as it's built to withstand the forces... I call bullshit! I'll be calling triumph today. I'm starting to wonder what legal recourses O have at this point.

    I just want to ride
