I like stuff with interesting timing. I can't remember where I heard it but apparently Bill Bruford said, when asked if he would join Yes, that he would but only on the condition he didn't have to play 4/4.

I've heard of Tool but not familiar with their music.

I love some of Tool’s stuff... especially when you suddenly notice influences in their music... I noticed some Iron Maiden touches when flicking between tracks a while ago, which surprised me...

Tool’s “Schism” is a great place to start... bet you don’t get the count right first go with that one... but listen to the track and it’s smooth as silk, you don’t notice the timing changes.

I'll add that to my list of stuff to check out. Because I'm a music geek like that. :)

Totally agree about Schism. Another band that is often away from 4/4 is Soundgarden, eg "Outshined" riff, "Fell on Black Days", "Spoonman",etc

That particular band is to me a step stone in music. Energy, sound, "explicit lyrics" :grinning:. Love it to bits.
I still regret not being able to watch "MC5 a True Testimonial" documentary. Wayne Kramer blocked the DVD release. If someone has a pirate version ?? :grinning::grinning:

I thought it might be there, in bits at least.

unfortunately, it's unlikely to find it on the web. The polemic and legal action around this movie are serious, and involve a lot of money. I hope a deal will be found for all MC5 fans.
