I love a bit of Ian Dury on the wireless gramophone, but this has a delightfully erudite introduction... one for the mother in law... it’s a bittersuit tale of a hard beset city girl ho ho!
I like a bit of harmonica now and again, Blues Traveller use it well, but oddly enough he’s a bit mad in this one, but the song is just fucking awesome (imho) I love it!
It was a woman on the bus, last week that told me about them, she's going to a gig, been following them for years apparently. I dont see a Scottish date.
A cracking tribute to screaming jay hawkins... Jeff Buckley bringing in an awesome version of Aligator Wine... he was such a talent RIP
And here’s an awesome version of Tainted love, don’t know if I’ve posted it before, but it kicks MM’s version into the dust (imho)
Hmmm.....not my cup of tea Got my headphones on in anticipation of this as you’ve put some really good stuff on here in the past Nah...not for me not this one but you can’t like everything can ya
How about something fairly mellow (from a band that's far from mellow) for this time of night? Naff video but truly great track from top notch album. Enjoy.
OK, so - it's Saturday night. It will soon be approaching seven o'clock .... you MUST know what that means, right? "It's getting late, have you seen my mates?" But, I'm suggesting THIS specific version for a number of reasons :- 1. it mentions "I'll drink a fifth of Jack" - and we all know who that's aimed at - though maybe it doesn't actually refer to a fifth BOTTLE Dilli ...... 2. it mentions the sound of a motorbike .......... 3. it features DD - NO, not the one you're thinking of but (the late) Dimebag Darrell 4. it rocks 5. just because. And I'm NOT making any comparison to the original (which I also like a LOT) but it's a hard rock version - unless you see the odd substitution of the lyric "a bar full of wino's" for "a barrel full of monkeys" as pretention writ large - and I like Nickelback. If you're out tonight - enjoy, stay safe, don't fight!
