I don't believe any Government is going to get it 100% correct all of the time, or even any of the time to be honest. This event is unprecedented and everyone is making it up as we go along. I believe that one of the biggest problems to overcome is going to be public paranoia. For many, no time is going to be right, I think we have to suck-it-and-see.
That is it - you have it right ! Going out on your bike in a sensible way is not significantly increasing your risk. Others flouting the the rules will no doubt continue to do so.. The most risky thing I do (working from home) is to go shopping as I can't get a delivery slot ! I will be taking the odd safe ride on my bike ALONE and keep safe.
Its a frame of mind thing. We have lady in our village (she used to a be nurse FFS! so should know better) She is in her late 50's, she has her widower Dad who must be in his late 70's or early 80's living with her and her husband. He doesn't look in the best of health when I see him from time to time and yet she looks after her daughters kid during the day, whilst the daughter goes to work. I should add the daughter doesn't live with her. When she walks past our house with her dad, she leans over the gate to pat our dogs, despite me asking her not to., She doesn't seem to have an inkling of what social distancing means. In all other respects she's a nice, intelligent lady, but she seems to think COVID19 isn't an issue for her and her family. With people like that walking around thinking the rules don't apply to them I just despair sometimes My missus is recovering from Stage 4 Cancer and so is classified as at very high risk, I've only been out shopping twice since the lockdown started and keep my exercise walks well away from others. Can any government legislate for people like the woman I've described?
Stupidity everywhere dude. People over the road, he walks their dog numerous times a day. Their daughter stays there some days, some days not (her car parking gives it away). They also have some friends / relatives visit once a weekish a man and a woman of middle aged to pensionable vintage. Said woman goes in the house, the man must feel he is vulnerable as he sits at the top of their drive and doesnt go in.... he is in a mobility scooter.....
Well, I won’t be going out. I’ve just SORNed my Triumph and the Beemer is going back to BMW when they get around to collecting it. I’ve also just put a deposit on a new bike but will have to wait to be able to collect it , hopefully at the beginning of June. Fingers crossed. Might be a good thing with all the Wacky Racing that’ll be going on.
A KTM SuperDuke GT It’s the older model (2018) without the God awful headlight of the new ones. A brand new, old stock one and I got it for £5500 less than the price of a 2020 model. They’re even updating the electronic suspension to the latest software for free. Getting heated seats fitted too. It’s like this one
I think the most effective way to put pleasure trippers off flocking to beauty spots etc is for the message to be broadcast that there are no toilets open for them to use. .. obviously we Brits are totally bowel & bladder focussed highlighted by the panic buying of toilet paper at the start of all this.. ... seriously though there really won’t be any toilets open as everywhere is shut and should any public toilets be open how on earth will people manage to use these safely with essential social distancing ... am sure that would work very well for the majority of trippers !
True. People have been fly tipping since the lockdown started so why not a bit of shit tipping in hedgerows? Some people have no shame as well as weak bladders.
What you will find if you do go out is that most car drivers seem to think that they don't need to stay on their side of the road anymore. Be careful on bends! Also a lot of the minor roads around here are covered in gravel and all sorts of crap which would normally be swept aside by normal traffic flow. Keep your eyes open.
That's the trouble with forums, you can't see the expression on peoples faces when they write stuff, should've put a winking emoji on instead of the sad one, I did see the humour in the comments. I wish I'd taken a photo last week though, on my way to the Supermarket someone had dumped a complete porcelain toilet in the verge at the side of the road!
It seems pretty clear to me. You can travel within England, meet up with another person outside your household so long as you observe social distancing. Obvious common sense should dictate that you don't go on a grandtour of the country, and that you take care to not put anyone or yourself at risk. Trouble is some people either genuinely or deliberately have no common sense, and then there are the "little Hitler" types who want to be as difficult and obstructive as possible. In Northamptonshire our chief of police a couple of weeks ago was saying they could check the contents of your bags to ensure you were only buying essential items when shopping... he quickly got slapped down by Pritti Patel.
i have stuck to the rules they have now said i can go out for a ride so i am going out simple as that
Ditto, I keep hearing how confusing the messaging is. If I can understand it without being confused it cannot be that difficult
It is rare on this forum to see anything that is to serious. The inmates are mostly always looking for a funny angle on most subjects. There are some exceptions when they need extra medication, the trick is to work out which posts are which
Most of the confusion is caused by the media. What I heard from Boris on sunday was that you can drive out to exercise as long as you maintain social distancing. I will be getting my bike out tomorrow or Thursday for a ride.
