Cheers, I've actually cleaned the side stand switch already. Will double check with a multi meter that it is working. Tried bypassing the side stand switch just incase but no luck. Clutch switch appears fine with a multi meter but I'll give it another look

I agree Dan, thats why I asked about kill switch, try the battery route then you need to trace a possible fault/broken wire in the safety circuit (which can sometimes be difficult with a meter as a broken severely frayed wire can give you a positive reading of continuity on a meter, but when its activated or a load put upon it - it will fail !! )

C'mon Dan...British pride is at stake here
If Samuel F turns up at yours with a running bike...you've lost :(
If you get yours going first then you've won
C'mon get your finger out

A couple of connectors to wiggle/clean - one in headlight shell, one under tank. I am off to study the wiring diagram to narrow down other possibilities!

Right..... the two inoperative bulbs share a feed via the headlamp connector to the igniter so there is a possibility of an igniter failure. You can only test by substitution. However, another possibility is the ignition switch where the terminals separately energise the ignition and, when pressed, the starter circuit.
Before stripping anything do load test the battery.....but should have got netral and oil lights even if it would not crank.......the relay sounds healthy if it clicks.

    HOWEVER.........

IF I read you right, the fact your netral light responds to grounding the cable might be a clue. It is a simple plunger switch and part of the safety circuit. If you pull the connector switch ignition on confirm voltage to earth with your multimeter. If you ground it and get a green light all well and good; if not you have a faulty switch and ignition lock out.

Not got it running yet, popped a fresh battery in but no joy. Beginning to suspect it is a wiring issue so may have to spend tomorrow chasing that

I have similar symptoms to this d-basser on a 91 Daytona 1000. On mine its either the wire from the battery to solenoid or solenoid to starter? If I wobble the solenoid ALL works fine but move it again & nothing!
