Yeh sorry for the lack of updates folks.

So i ordered a new 6.8mm cobalt drill bit and some 3 stage taps to do this properly- going to drill out remaining old bolt this weekend and put a lottery ticket on hoping i can get new threads done ✅

You will have to drill dead central and square if you are using the tapping size drill of 6.8mm
Did you make a drill guide to fit on the spigot ?

You may find it easier if you remove the shock absorber completely - there might be a bit of the bolt available to grip onto.

No I haven't- the drill i can rest on a block and helps keeping it straight plus i have a spirit level on the drill

    Well task complete

The cobalt drill bit just ate through the remaining S/S bolt .

Thanks everyone for your support. Now onto which exhaust to buy : really fancy 2-1 TEC tracker
