It is not unreasonable for any manufacturer to build a bike to the average customer, they can not tailor for all, so going with the average is good!
At least they engineer the remaining parts of the bike in order to cope with that well outside of the average scope so you can make these adjustments without worrying about the frame strength for example.
220kg load capacity is excellent and at the higher end of the scale of things.
the fact that they have set the factory specs to suit a 70-90kg solo rider is exactly what I would do as this is the average use the bike would recieve (globally)

Count yourself lucky. It was only after buying an MT-10 that I found out that my rider & Pillion + gear weight was only 4kg of the bikes rated maximum... so we couldnt even take any luggage!

Keep us posted please Bug, I was trying to work out if the stiffer spring would give me the same ride height on zero pre-load vs the std spring with max pre-load. I could do with gaining back the precious inch lost to max pre-load

Great improvement with TECsprings. Took bike out for test run today ......it feels better than ever . I am ashamed to say I am 266lb . Dialled in 5 full turns preload on the rear . 14 compression. 17 rebound.
Front 13 full turns preload. 2 turns comp and rebound.
Bike gives you great feedback and loads of confidence when cornering.
Have not checked seat height yet ...... but will not go back.
    Great job TEC parts
