    You’re using a different Highway Code from the rest of us.

    It’s code 130

    If the hatched area is bounded by a broken white line - you can cross it and enter the hatched area. (If it’s safe to do so)
    If the hatched area is bounded by a continuous white line - you can’t cross into the hatched area. (Except in an emergency)

    When I did my advanced test some years ago the ex police rider doing the testing went into the hatched area with broken lines around it. After the test I said that I thought you could only enter that hatched area if it was "necessary ". He said "If you want to make progress then it is necessary". Seemed like good logic to me.
