Bad Billy, we all do this, but I just keep them in the harem, and service as needed.

I’m a non smoker but I thought I’d google it anyway

It seems according to most sources on google, smokers contribute about 12 billion in tax and smoking related illnesses cost the NHS about 6 billion

"The UK-wide NHS costs attributable to overweight and obesity are projected to reach £9.7 billion by 2050, with wider costs to society estimated to reach £49.9 billion per year." - from gov.uk

You are allowed to critise a smoker, but critise a fatty and you'll get done for a hate crime!

I must admit I gave up smoking in 2003.
I don’t condemn anyone for smoking that’s too much big brother for me.
And to be fair smokers pay a hell of a price not just in cash to smoke, everyone knows the dangers, just like motorcycling which is very often lethal too.
And just like motorcyclists some smokers are selfish..

There’s good and bad in everyone it’s just if it gets pointed at the wrong person that isn’t selfish but partakes in smoking or riding bikes.

F*#k this I’m having a beer and hitting the Brexit thread

The argument about the money spent vs the money it costs to treat is a mute point and skewed to argue your point. The fact is that if the doctors, nurses and medical staff weren't treating those people who choose to poison themselves (cigarettes, drugs, alcohol etc) they would have more time to spend on those who have unfortunately just fallen ill or had an accident.
We can argue til the cows come home about who's rights are more important but the simple fact is that there are those people who respect others and are considerate and others who are just selfish and inconsiderate (in all walks of life).
If you're pissed off with someones behaviour then you have three choices. Front it up and tell them, remove yourself from the situation or sit in silence and suffer.
Actions may change attitudes, bleating about it on a forum achieves nothing :mad:

Before you go along that line check out the stats of an accident whilst riding a motorcycle and serious injury per capita diving a car or on a bus..

It’s okay to be perfect if you can, but once you become a statistic you can’t complain

That’s the point, whatever you do someone will have a reason to say you shouldn’t.
Whether it’s eating chocolate, drinking real ale ‘ I agree with that’ riding bikes all types, running, playing football.
If it goes wrong you become a statistic that costs the NHS.

So it’s the age old. You can please some of the people, ( I’ve forgot our the rest, been drinking) shit I’m another statistic :eek:

So if there are 20 million smokers we should all be due a £300 rebate each year from the surplus....

Well my photo of people smoking on a bench outside a hospital wasn’t really a dig at smoking but the fact that all five benches that were taken up by the smokers had signs on them saying it was a non smoking area and I couldn’t find a wheelchair for my dad at reception as they were also being used by smokers.
