Here, look, the world at your finger tips, all the culture and information you could ever require,

    The internet, the promise Broken.

I went on line to find Billy Connelly's "plays for today" made in the seventies,
Elephants Graveyard and Any Saturday. They are on Youtube but not allowed in your country, AAAAAAAAAH

Bloody connectors ! Just took my amateur radio antenna down as I couldn’t tune it.
So my thoughts are despite it being guyed a connection had come loose.
So checked it over, everything was fine so put it back up.
It may well be ground mounted but it is awkard and heavy to raise and lower.
So went back in the house and checked to see if the atu was tuning it. Still had the same problem.
Checked the connectors at the back of the atu and they were loose !
Tightened them back up and all’s fine. Bloody connectors that never get touched or moved how the hell do they become loose !
It was definately a FFS moment.

Can anyone please tell me why we tend to adopt "American" practices/habits?
I regularly see people wandering around with takeaway coffees, obviously having watched too many police series on Sky. My Granddaughter, regularly has "sleepovers", which I can only presume, originated from the Good ol" USA. I believe, they now have school "proms", where everyone dresses up, and pretends they are living in the US?.
Why, having seen the USA make so many "cock-ups", do we feel that it is absolutely essential that we copy this totally weird behaviour? rant over

I'm with Gary No turkey the only time they can sell it is at Christmas, I would rather have a big juicy chicken and a lovely big Pork joint with crackling.

Over here it should be Zander (pikeperch), but they all think it is a movie with Tom Cruise (Days of Thunder)... Which is not about fish at all.
Anyway, we have rabbit in our family since I can remember.

In my eyes, it is always a sign of missing self-confidence when people(s) start copying other cultures.
We are heavily americanized over here, since no one wanted to identify with our own culture couple of years back and American movies and lifestyle were present at every street corner.

But be counseled: right now, the British culture is quite popular! Folks driving Minis with large Union Jacks painted on their rooftops!

So maybe I should have minced meat for Christmas!?

We always have a Gammon joint cooked in coca cola - seriously - its one of Nigella's recipes and it tastes awesome.
Just to be controversial, we always have Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve - no one has to cook Christmas Day that way and we start drinking at breakfast time with Bucks Fizz. (It goes downhill from then on). :):)

Talking of British culture - is it true that its a tradition for Germans still watch "Dinner for One" on New Years Eve? No one has really heard of it in this country but apparently you love it! (It may be called Der 90 Geburtstag)
