Wow, andy, you must be "The Bird Whisperer" for that little guy to not fly off when you got that close!

Robin's are very common here, and very tame too. Its really not that rare to be able to get so close. If your persistent enough, you could have them eating out of your hand

A really great snap. When you zoom in you can see the layers of feathers. No wonder they stay warm . A photo likes this also demonstrates how far iPads have come in their ability to zoom in and not lose definition . Makes a change to be zooming in on a bird and not feel guilty...

Not the sharpest of images but it was taken using my ancient nokia 'phone through the window of the carriage of a moving steam train (The West Highland Railway) between Fort William and Mallaig.

I've seen "The Jacobite" numerous times, but have never been on it... That's a beautiful picture!

Beautiful picture! Just shows that you don't need fancy gear to make a nice picture if you have a nice scene and good composition :)

Been taking my camera with me on morning walks round a local forest, capturing little random scenes like these.

I'd wager that you've seen the Jacobite from the sea - which must add a wonderfully unique perspective to it.

We had desperately wanted to get a bright sunny day for the ride but it was not to be - more like "haar" it was so wet and misty. But, that brief moment when the rainbow was created by a small patch of clarity in the low cloud and mist, had an almost surreal ethearality to it - practically everyone on the train gasped audibly - and, for what seemed like minutes but, in reality, was actually seconds that rainbow almost seemed to be chasing the train!

Wim., time to get back there and take that ride - it's worth every shiny penny and slow moment ...... even in the rain!

And now for something COMPLETELY different! And truly unique .....

I have seen it from the sea, actually - but more often in the station at Arisaig. I'd love to go back and take that ride, I'd imagine you get some great views!

WHOOOOPS .... SORREEE! Completely forgot that the thread title does state 'not bikes'. I'd been looking through my photo's folder for the rainbow shot and saw the Norton photos and just thought .... hmmmmm..... sunny; bike; just about useable size - do it!

I guess it's just another thread derailment - but I'll pull 'em, if you like?
