Except those Pictish hordes in their woad and kilts who came South and invaded the Rose of the Counties to set up camp in Corbei.

Going by the Scots version of ploughman's lunch on the table maybe explains a lot.

As has been highlighted in other threads, it is felt the nature of the forum was changing and the reason I started this thread was to keep laugh thread free of politics, which the above, I feel, are. Not really keen on doing this, but think politics and laugh thread need separating.
If this causes upset, I apologise, but trying to keep the peace.

Well I've tried to stay out of this for fear of offending people, but what the heck - sooner or later we all revert to type!

Frankly I'm amazed at how many people feel sorry for themselves and blame others - Westminster, Brussels, politicians etc - for their perceived inferiority. Ultimately it's up to all of us to make of our lives what we can. Too many of us seem to expect a politician to solve everything for us.

Places that are successful and prosperous are so because individuals or groups of individuals - businesses - have worked hard and created value by doing so. Classic examples are Germany, London, California, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore.

Similarly politicians believe their own hype, namely that they can make a difference and solve every problem by diktat and a never-ending resort to spending other people's money. Until it eventually runs out, when they blame someone else.

So good luck Scotland, you'll need it. But not as much as the SNP once the subsidy from England - or the hard-working, prosperous South East to be honest - is removed.

    I'll get my coat

Feck me, it didn't say 'Real' Politics in the thread title, did it? ;)

....and I promise not to start on the 'me, me, me' ... 'feckin' greed' generation kicked off by feckin' class traitor Margaret feckin' Thatcher whose economic-simpleton acolytes started this God-awful trend to a low-rent service economy.

Did you know that the East Northants Raunds boot and shoe workers were the first workingman's movement to march on Parliament (1902 I think) with a petition. Long before the Jarrow lads. 115-ish low paid homeworkers. The boot makers suffered a double whammy when orders were cut and so were piece rates when the War Department immediately massively cut back their orders for army and cavalry boots when Boer War II ended. And the marchers were well received and Parliament got the War Department to increase its orders to ease the transition.

There had been a near universal strike. I say 'near' cos one blackleg bastid insisted on breaking it, and with police escort (for genuine fear of his safety) he walked to Raunds each day from Denford/Ringstead to take his finished work and collect new pieces to be cobbled.

That locally notorious fecking blackleg bastid? Margaret Thatcher's uncle!!! See, it runs in the family. Black sheep of our family, her, (on my mum's dad's side). Seriously, all the cousins knew her as Snobby Roberts cos she thought she was a cut above her working class blood relatives cos dad owned his own shop - and only cos he was too shortsighted to stitch boots so that his parents supported him through a grocer apprenticeship. Ungrateful c^^^. And she killed Corby Steelworks where loads of her close and immediate family were employed. C^^^!!! My mum hated her with a passion.

There, I promised I would hold back.

No because of offense, any political or politicians. Yes, there have been in the past, but I've got better things to do than go back and look at 2600 posts!!!

Any Rant against her is welcome, and from a relative, even better. She is easily, still the most hated politiician in Scotland.

like i said before Ron if you start banning political jokes from the made me laugh thread (and no one has ever complained before:confused:) you will have to make several separate threads for all the other topics that might offend..then there will be no jokes on the made me laugh thread:eek:!! best advice is if you don't find a joke funny just ignore it.like John T says we don't want this forum to become too PC

Not the the jokes, but the reactions that people were putting up, me included, which was taking away from the laugh thread. Definitely not PC. Never been accused of that :D
