My 'understanding' (and bear in mind I understand little of anything at the best of times. What time is it anyway? Understanding time...Aha. OK) is...that you could maybe trial 'foster' the chap for a while to see if Lilly would be okay with him...if not, well if there is another home, all well and good (shame to miss out on an ideal home for him, but the Lilster comes first) And if they get on and it works out, he gets to stay.

Of course, if its not working out with Lilly, there is your argument for not fostering, right there, as its not fair on the pup you have,

A friend came over for a little socially-distanced happy hour in our cul-de-sac recently. Annie decided to join the conversation and was quite content to hang out with us on one of her (many!) dog beds.

I agree @Dozers Dad once is enough.

The argument against is.... If he stays, you don't have room for any more fosters, if he doesn't, well, Lilly won't take to them. Maybe in the future..... ;)

I know what your saying though, these folk see an opportunity and go for it. More likely to put potential help off in my opine.

Hmmmmmm..... not at all sure why that particular view would obtain, DD. I'm not a dog person - per se - though we have a dog and I can live with that as it's my wife's dog and I pretty much adore the wife! (No she's NOT looking over my shoulder!) But I could not live for any reasonable period of time in a house without a cat, I'm afraid. I'll readily admit to being soft about cats, less than soft about dogs, mildly interested in horses but somewhere on the other side of neutral about things like arachnids; snakes, exotics, etc.

Anyway, cats aren't pets ........ they're our rulers; they don't have owners they have 'staff' - and the ancient Egyptians probably knew a lot more about some 'stuff' than do we! :)

The only generic emotional element about pets for me is that I cannot abide human cruelty to animals of any kind.

We have lots of red deer in our area, which means lots of ticks, lice, ked lice, the lot.

For the last few years we have been using a product called Advantix, which is kind of like Spot On, but works. Not had a tick or a flea on either dog for all the time we have been using it. They aren't bothered by the midges either.

I just wish they made something like that for humans too! I'm forever getting ticks, which is a worry as Lymes disease is quite prevalent in this, area too.

This was my Collie, Tilly. Been gone some 9 years now. Still get a lump in my throat thinking about the day she went. It's kind of ironic, a dog will give you some of the best days in your life and eventually, one of the worst.
