Oldest bit of biking gear?

    Boots will be ok but I think that helmets have a lifespan and should be replaced after a period of time.

    Did I mention I have 2 boerI driver helmets as new still in the bags in the boxes. Sadly I bought them in 1983 so more a decoration than a helmet.

    Being a born again biker after many years the oldest bit other than me is my under crackers. I hope they will be replaced at xmas as I seem to be wearing through them all in the bagging area

    Mmmm interesting comment. My lid is usually stored out of sunlight and am careful not to throw it around or knock/drop it. Might have to invest in a balaclava though.

    I'm guessing this is something helmet manufacturers keep quiet to increase their sales!

    Again, I know I am only a youngster but I vaguely remember a lid called centurion. Not sure if my mates had one but the names rings a bell.... was unaware it was a Halfords jobbie.

    And you're right. Most of us back then had a blatant disregard for our lids!! I know mine used to get chucked around or sat on.
