Must admit, the higher centre of gravity took me a bit by surprise, but I'm getting there. Not ready to take Mrs BS out pillion yet though, get a few more miles under the frame first. Lot of single track roads here, so I'm getting used to the handling. All good fun though.
A bloke was watching his mate's dog licking its balls. "Bloody hell" he said. "I wish that I could do that". "Give him a biscuit and I'm sure he'll let you" replied the owner. Welcome Sandy. Classy bike, that is! But keep the battery fully charged.
Starter clutch? Thankfully its a new battery, and the alternator is pushing a good 14v And, Thanks for the welcome
Hi Big Sandy, I thought all you Scots referred to each other as 'big man', I used to work for a company that had a depot in Glengarnock, right outside the gates was a pub, landlord was 'Big Billy' .... he was about 5ft 6ins and slightly built! Anyway I waffled on enough, enjoy you bike, it's great if you have a son who rides as well, you'll always have someone to ride with.
@Bad Billy I think it's reverse psychology in many cases, my mate Wee Mickey was a good few inches taller than me Yup, son is looking at bigger bikes ready for passing his test. I get to test ride them, and whatever he gets will be stored here until he's ready. Course, somebody has to keep the oil moving..... It just gets better!
Some folk take exception to my view, but I just love those single tracks e.g. out of Lairg up to Tongue and alongside Loch Shin, and of course round Lonchinver and such. Great fun on my agile Street Twin. Going to be on the Tiger next July with a five other inmates. Make sure you hook up with us for at least a day out. https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/post-gmu19-nc500-tour.16096/ And Dougie's Scotland tour in May will be mainly south of you, but one day will be up Ullapool way. Dougie's organisation is second to none. This year's road trip was brilliant+. https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/2019-scottish-road-trip-26th-may-to-2nd-june.15749/
Welcome in. Motorbikes and Land Rovers, manna from heaven. And you spend all your time fighting rust !!! Although my series 3 is now sold, still love them. Had a 1980 SWB, full ground up restoration, then went trialling in it, bloody love them. I bought it to go play in, but ended up restoring it to concourse condition, even got a double page spread in LRO magazine. But wasn't built for show, so I took it off road, brilliant fun.
Some cracking scenery. Got to watch what you're riding on though, the council have been playing silly bees with the loose chippings and tar spray lately. They've been having fun putting chips down the sides of the roads, so they look wider than they are and of course at night folk drive on the edges and the loose chips get spread over the tarmac. And, as you might expect it's always worse on the bends. Councillors should be made to ride bikes.... Yes, no halfway house is there? You either love them or hate them. I have been in and under them for over 40 years (explains why I'm a bit deaf. Series diesels are like going to a Motorhead concert. An hour after you get out you can still hear the music) ever since Dad had a SII ffr swb when I was a kid. Thinking logically, I have probably spent as much time fixing them as driving them! I'm sure I'll learn
