Did demo rides on the Thunderbird and an R3R today...

The thunderbird was nice but I did ground out, to my surprise, the right peg a few times on roundabouts (I understand now Midge!). Strangely this is something I didn't suffer with on the Victory Hammer I demo'ed last week and it has supposedly less clearance. The brakes and suspension were really nice but I wasn't as impressed with the engine as I was with the Hammer to be honest, good but not great to my mind. Out of the hammer and TB I would go for a Hammer.

The Rocket was freaking insane and I loved it, I got into pushing on the pegs to get it cornering quicker and was just amazed at the sheer torque when twisting back the throttle in 3rd at 60mph...awesome! No better word for it. And if you get it into 5th gear ASAP you can be a little more sedate with the power and take it easy...in theory....

You only live once and all that so I have put a deposit down....on a matt black with white stripe R3R! I'm keeping the SMT too thanks for some 0% APR so that will be my all weather bike leaving the R3R to be shown off when the better weather is there :)

I have about a 2 week wait now before I get my new toy

Brilliant! So glad you had a blast on it. I can't believe the power figures for the Rocket - if I was really, really old I'd probably go for one too. (Oh fuck, I am!)

First thing the wife said when she saw a picture was "that's an old man's bike" I'm not quite 40 but I don't care, not after riding it! Anyway she'll change her mind after she's been on the back lol

I just rung the dealership back and have changed the order from Phantom Black with Red Stripe to Matt Black with White, much prefer it based on what pictures i can find of it. Will suit the ceramic coating I'll get onto the exhausts later on too...

It's going to be a long wait now, I may have to go back for another demo ride if it's too long

I did on the one today, nothing else like it honestly....my SMT is quick on the acceleration front especially with a smaller number of teeth on the front sprocket, but this thing was immense! And the sound!!!!

Go for a demo ride just for shits and giggles and you will giggle, like a little kid :)

Nice one! I loved both the TB and the R3 but the R3 is simply bonkers.

I'm sure you'll have lots of fun and I wouldn't be surprised if the SMT doesn't end up in the For Sale columns

It has seemed an eternity waiting for news of the bike arriving, and it is now at the dealership! Hopefully it will be ready to take away on the 9th, with black teardrop mirrors, short sissy bar and front engine bars fitted too...

Sorted out the insurance today so just waiting on the bike.....

Might have to take the day off work on the 9th or 10th just so I get some time with the bike ;)
