How much power can an unfaired bike have, my Thruxton before the fairing was shite at 100mph with about 80bhp.
There’s got to be a point where any more power becomes unusable in either acceleration and top end.

Plus I’ve worked out my eyesight is only capable of 50 bhp:p

I could handle more torque. I used to ride a Harley Sportster with 89 cui engine and it scares and makes you smile.

I used to have a Ducati 1098 Streetfighter S... Think that was putting out around 155bhp and 115Nm, it was a ballistic bike in a straight line, but poop on the corners...but you'd not be wanting to sit above 100mph for any length of time!

Well that’s not actually true, unfortunately. I’ve been down that avenue with no resolve. There is more to this sorted affair, that even Triumph is left scratching their heads. For me it’s time to say a beautiful goodbye to the quickshifter “Bella ciao Bella ciao Bella ciao ciao ciao” now sing along with me....

I agree! As I always say "torque is my drug of choice". Well, that and martinis. ;)

The RS is so good and if they can keep the weight the same then I’m in!

I know it’s not taken seriously but how much torque and power can you use on a naked bike?
My Thruxton unfaired to 100 mph was enough and even with double the torque when can you use it?

I was driving the Superduke with 140 Nm of torque, it was quite brutal but funny. I think 150-180 could also be managed. It is not about the speed, but brutality with which you accelerate, and the rev range when it starts. My harley has more torque then the speed at 7000 rpm at about 3000 rpm, but it is quite different story.

I’ve a few buddies that have their bikes super tuned with max power and torque, but I’d love to see how long they’re at 100% throttle.
I’d bet it’s not as long as they’d like to think it is.

We always want more everything but I’d start with handling and cornering before power

I think the Speed is close to being perfect for the road. I agree with what was said above as far as brutal acceleration. The speed is very quick to accelerate but not unmanageable in the least. With the electronics the bike has, it could easily have a lot more torque that would be usable. Now maybe if you live in a city with no country nearby then I agree, but if that’s the case then the speed is not appropriate in the first place. Every time I ride it’s not far till I can full throttle accelerate as much as I like. If that wasn’t the case, I probably wouldn’t have a bike.

I think my 765 has "enough" power and torque for me on the road and on track.... but that doesn't mean I'd not enjoy having more! :D

Agreed. I test rod a 765 RS before I bought the Speed RS. It was far superior to my 675 non R version bike. Power was about the same, but mine was flashed and had a SC Project exhaust. It was the suspension and braking on the 765 that I really liked compared to my 675, but I wanted more torque and power. With the 675 I had to wring it’s neck to get what I wanted out of it, and it was the same with the 765 on my test ride. I find that’s not the case with the speed. Even without the engine on boil it’s very quick, but when you do wring it’s neck it’s a beast.

I must admit I’ve gone backwards from 150bhp plus bikes down to 80bhp and I just enjoy the ride now.
I can still travel relatively quickly without having to concentrate on not opening the throttle too early and only when the bikes pretty upright.

Slower paced higher enjoyment, strange but true:p

I utterly get that, it is why I enjoy my Moto Guzzi V7 so much, but I do also like to up the pace a bit too! :)

Know exactly what you mean and five years ago I would have been power, power power but since the minces are not so great the slower pace is spot on and you see everything around you.

I’ve ridden past a classic Rolls Royce dealer for 15 years but first saw it a few months ago:laughing:

I wonder how long we will have to wait on any new information on this bike, I really could see myself on one if it comes to fruition! :)
