Dilli, I bought one mint 550 off the guy (cant remember his name lived out Crewe way IIRC) who bought a bike did write ups for MCN then sold it and repeat.

Yet my mates 79 guzzi did, the back rises when you pull away and it pulls easier into bends one way than the other. He described it as 'quirky'.
Mind you, it could be because it's just Italian.

 

But the Guzzi will be a vee twin, yes?
As in the CX 500 I wonder if the combination of V power and shaft is the issue.

The GT750 was a great handler, far superior to a 3 year newer GPZ 750 I had after it.

Rising of the rear end is due in part to the geometry relationship of the swing arm pivot point.

 

Absolutely...wasn’t convinced at first but totally converted now...used on my Daytona and Speedy for years and that includes some horrendous wet rides in France and Spain on tour...every 250 to 500 miles...no mess no fling not gritty crap sticking to your chain

speaking of which...I'm giving the gesr oil a go, can't see it doing any harm.

I've been using gear oil for a few years now . I clean the chain with white spirit , dry with clean rag . I then lub the chain using a toothbrush with EP80 . Wipe off excess then spray with a chain lub which seems to solidify the gear oil . Triumph Sprint 955i ST , 18000 miles and counting . Looks good .

 

So, chainsaw bar oil being basically anti fling gear oil would that be better or worse than straight gear oil?

Chainsaw bar oil is, i believe, biodegradable and is not waterproof, so would wash off just easily, requiring frequent application.

We use a lot of sae 68 slide oil at work, that pretty chewy stuff.

 

Arudge I think bar oil comes in two varieties and one is biodegradable but the other isn't.

I currently have about 20 litres of non bio in the garage.

I think some on here would buy it just because of the sticker but not me honest!
