Yep, bought the tee shirt, but last year we only had a week, and 2 days of that was lost in getting to and from Scotland. And the weather, well the weather!!

Not everyones cup of tea but Wheatherspoon's in Blairgowrie is a decent meal and drink at the right money.

I did the approximate route donkeys years ago before it was christened the NC500, but that must've been 35 years ago now! Did the trip on a Honda CB250RS single with wife #1 on the pillion. I was hoping to do it again with my son this year. Can anyone who's done it recently recommend biker friendly places to stay that won't break the bank? I was told there is a nice place called Torguish House near Inverness that lots of bikers use when in the area. We would look to do the circuit itself over 3 days and then a day each way to get up to Inverness and back

Me and Mrs Freck did it for our honeymoon last year and we found accommodation each day depending on where we’d end up.
Booked a Holiday Inn in Perth for the first night in advance (cos I got it free with the reward points I’d already accrued) then we just looked at our route each day over breakfast and decided how far we’d want to ride that day.
Taking into account the weather and anywhere we’d like to stop and visit, we’d then just look on Booking.com to see what was in the area we’d end up in.
This method worked out pretty well for us and we only ended up staying in one hotel that was a bit crap, in Dornoch. :)

I didn’t bother with the A9, from Lairg I took the A836 to Tongue,A wild and lonely road past the Crask Inn ,you’ll probably have the whole road to yourself.

Day 1 boring motorway riding up past Glasgow, so nothing to report.
Yesterday - a lovely ride past Glenshee ski resort to Braemar for breakfast at tge Hungry highlander, then off up to Grantam on spey and onwards to Brora, where we are staying a couple of nights with friends in an amazing cabin they built on their property

Yup. Today is a wash out, so just staying in with friends. No riding today, but the rest of the week looks good.

Wellies and mosquito nets - what more could you possibly want for Scotland.

There are very few bad roads up there and the natives are friendly.

    Photos would be good.....

Hope you are having a great time despite the weather! Hope you dont come back alkies! :D

If you fancy some entertainment when heading back down the road, south of Glasgow, take the B7078/A702/B7076 from Junction 9 south on the M74 at Kirkmuirhill all the the way south to Moffat.

It practically parallels the m/way but is empty and much more fun (you'll see why bikers like it) and with great open views.

EDIT: no! just seen you have said you are staying in Selkirk on the way down, ah well, next time!
Use the B6357 fromBonchester Bridge to Newcastleton, south west from Selkirk. Hizzies' old playground (you'll see why bikers like it, lol )
