First bike a 1962 Greeves 25DC 2T Twin SVG879, sourced for me by Geoff Priest in Norwich (anyone remember him), passed my test on a Honda C110, DVF41C, at 11am one morning, off to Priests at lunchtime, rode away on a 1962 Norton 650 SS, 545SBJ, never having ridden a big bike before.
Sorry, I’m a bit of an anorak concerning registration numbers, or some of them.

My uncle gave me his old Starfire which I kept in a cowshed at a farm down the lane because my parents didn’t want me to have a bike. Learned to ride on it - more by trial and error since I was only 15 and so couldnt take lessons. Hateful machine, but I do get a little nostalgic when I see one!

My first proper bike was a Starfire too, I say proper coz I had a Matchless 350 before that but never took it on the road . Passed my test on it but I have to say it wasn't the most reliable of machines, I had loads of fun learning about ignition timing, valve adjustment, fixing punctures and also the bike jumping out of 4th gear . I became kinda quick at removing the gearbox trying to find the problem which turned out to be a camplate spring which looked and felt ok but it must have had a hairline crack which you couldnt see. Happy days.

my first bike would be a minibike with a 3 1/2 h.p. briggs and Stratton motor. My first proper bike was my Honda XL250 Enduro! That was a heavy bike, but ahead of it's time. All my friends were on 2 strokes, and look where they are now!

My first bike was a Honda 90 sports....came very close to getting a scooter:eek: as i was not quite sure at the tender age of 15 could have gone either way but after riding a BSA 250 Sunbeam scooter i quickly decided that scooters handled like shit! so bought the bike and never looked back.
Second bike was a Royal Oilfield 250 Crusader sports and that sealed my love for slow hard starting oily British bikes.;)
