As I understand it, Spanish Flu (which came from Kentucky I believe) lasted about five years. We have vaccines now. I wonder if vaccines will shorten or prolong this pandemic ?

At least we have counter measures like vaccines and good communication to fight these things. Here we have a higher percentage of of the population with vaccinations than some places, and it has cut the infection and death rate significantly. Of course you have the hard heads that refuse to get vaccinated. I value life. Not going to take any unnecessary chances. I have made it to 76 years old, and plan to live a long time ;) ...J.D.

Here in Australia we were a bit slow in getting the population Vax. But part of that was EU related in blocking sales of vaccines to our Government for Australian national Vax plans. We now have approximately 92% of population over 16 yrs vaxed , our death rate was probably the lowest in the world !! Probably because it was easier for us to Isolate ! Border's closed ... Shipping and Airlines easy as .
Now coming out of isolation is going to be hard because many people in many countries are Anti-vax !!

California, particularly the big cities are melting pots. People for the most part are not native to the area. Because of that you have people coming and going a lot. Makes it hard to keep the virus out. They have done a pretty good job at getting vaccinated, but you always have a percentage of people who resist. ...J.D.
