Get the vaxx… still get the disease and/or still be transmittable. Yeah, REAL reliable.

Take the one made by these guys, but don't take the one made by those guys…. or those other guys.

Current class action lawsuit in the US kicking off by nearly 4500 people with health problems after submitting, to include s/o's of those who died.

#1 leading infectious disease expert in the US admitting he was previously wrong and going back on his testimony several times. Oh, and this latest bullshit booster should be the last, until it isn't.

Droves of large corporations walking back their mandates. Amtrak, AdventHealth, Huntington Ingalls, School Boards, Universities,

    The list goes on.

I ran errands around town all day yesterday and there wasn't a single person in any small establishment wearing a face diaper and maybe 1 in 75-100 wearing one in the larger ones. I passed through St Louis a couple days ago and downtown the only people wearing them were femm'd-out beta boys and chicks with blue and green dyed butch haircuts. NOBODY back in E'ern Colorado wears them and practically none along the I-25 corridor as well. Nearly every mandate attempt this asshat we have in the White House tries to ram down our throats gets killed by a federal judge or the SCOTUS, those that aren't are still tied up in court.

Not getting it… ever. No one will ever convince me otherwise. Try and force me and I hate it for you because that's not going end well in rapid fashion I don't care who you are. People are over it and we're not putting up with the government's bullshit anymore. YMMV. Have fun… sucker.

And FTR I work in biochemistry surrounded by scientists and both a 25 yr MD and a 30 yr PA give me my medical advice practically on call.

Ain't happening. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

Just another view point that causes more confusion. I’m sure that there is a middle ground to be found somewhere. Unfortunately people seem to polarise behind their own view point which leaves us with the divided society that we live in.

I was intending to make that point exactly but I won't bother now. :)

In our case, we have just completed the last opening steps after the 4th lockdown. For the first time, stores away from tourist centers were allowed to open on Sunday.
But from January, at the latest in the middle of the month, we are possibly facing another lockdown because of OMICRON. :confounded:

Obviously you have a right to your opinion on this but you're clearly playing fast and loose with facts and logic here to support your view.

There's plenty of research out there to support the understanding that the virus spreads via airbourne droplets, and how a mask will reduce the spread of infection. It just seems like a sensible precaution for a society dealing with a highly transmissable agent that impacts the health services we all expect to rely on. I don't need a political figure to tell me whether to do it or not, I can see the sense for myself.

As you will know from conversations with your medical friends, the principle of the scientific method is to create a hypothesis, test it, and modify it if the facts don't support it. Using that principle to undermine a scientist's credibility is a political move, not a scientific one.

America has had two different administrations during the Covid years, if the Republicans were suddenly brought back into power, would they stop or support Covid measures? I know Labour or Lib Dem’s would essentially stick with the program?

I'll be sure to tell that to the MD, PA(who's saved dozens of lives), and the various microbacteriologists, microbiologists, and biochemical engineers who advise me on this course of action. They'll get a chuckle out of that.

I figured with that post someone would turn this into a Trump/Republican thing.

    Too predictable.

    My previous post stands.

Actually I haven't taken the time to judge anybody in here, nor do I plan to.

Lots of assumptions going on, though.

Well I happily got my booster today. Not for fear of the virus. But I can feel happy to do my bit to try and get a shitty situation looking better :)

Hey, you were the one who went for the political angle with your 'asshat' comment. :D

Obviosuly I can't comment on all your learned friends but maybe there's more information out there that you're getting by the sound of it. Always better to DYOR than follow the herd. ;)

He knew himself detested, but he knew
The hearts that loath'd him, crouch'd and dreaded too.

    Just some personal experience here...

Laura, eldest daughter, age 46 in good health - Moderna two-shot series and booster - Got COVID two months later in October. Became very ill, not deathly so, but had a shit time of it for two weeks, Spent one day in the hospital. Likely Delta. OK now

Aaren, Laura's daughter, age 11 - no shots, no COVID - yet

Keith, Laura's fiancé, age 42 in good health - Pfizer two-shot series and booster- Got COVID two months later in October. Very ill for two weeks. Likely Delta. OK now

Aiden, Keith's son, age11. No vaccine, got COVID in October, probably from his father. Symptoms like a bad cold for a week - Likely Delta. OK now

Faith, eldest daughter - age 40, breast cancer survivor, cancer free for five years now. David is her husband, age 38 in good health. Both had the Pfizer series and booster - Both have gotten COVID just this past week.

Ross and Bree, ages 33 - David's younger brother and sister-in-law. Staying with Faith and David for the past two weeks, down from NY for Christmas. Both were in good health. Neither is vaccinated. Both have now gotten COVID.

So, everyone in Faith's household has it - both the vaccinated and unvaccinated. All are experiencing similar symptoms, like a bad cold. Likely OMICRON.

Abby, youngest daughter, age 36, lives alone, in good health - Unvaccinated - No COVID yet.

My wife and I - I'm 69, she's 66. both in reasonably good health - no serious, chronic illnesses, both with good body mass indexes. Both unvaccinated - No COVID yet.

Could Laura and Keith have had a worse time of it if they hadn't been vaccinated? There's no way of knowing. Would Ross and Bree have fended off COVID from Faith and David had they been vaccinated? Not likely, vaxxed Faith got it from vaxxed David. Will my wife and I, Abby and Aaren catch it? Maybe.

All I am trying to point out is that we have a good mix here of many variables and a mix of all kinds of circumstances. I don't think that any of the "experts" have a clue as to what's going on. The whole thing is a crap shoot.

    So's Russian Roulette.

Not really. That codger is literally about as inept as clueless as they come, as proven by my follow-on statement, which is a fact.

And I believe your name is one of these from pages gone by...

After Auckland city, NZ, coming out of 100+ days in lockdown due to delta, our govt have extended the border lockdown to end of February to help decrease the possible effect of Omicron. This is more about fortunate timing than good management, but will help. :mask:
The booster delay has been shortened from 6 to 4 months to allow people to get one before Summer is over and the increased risk of Winter sets in :cold_sweat:
Businesses have just started again, both mandated :mask: and no contact :p
Time will tell if 90%+ vax status of NZ has real benefits.
Best wishes Nikki on your new job :kissing_heart:
