Yep, I remember Marlee Matlin from Children of a lesser God. Deaf as a doornail. Great actress.

A bit late to the party I know but we just watched Elvis - Wow, this is the best film I have seen in a long time and what a great actor Austin Butler is! I was a massive fan of Elvis as a kid and did cry when he died in 1977, I even remember where I was at the time (riding my bicycle round the block). :sob:

My hubby and I watched A Man Called Otto a couple of evenings ago. I'm with @Oldskool....a great film. And Tom Hanks was terrific. Very heartwarming story.

It's a TV show and It's been going a few years but I have just noticed it, Bangers and Cash on the Yesterday channel, It's about vintage cars and bikes going up for auction, I'm binge watching all the seasons and loving it.

Yes and I think Derrick was in the news a few months ago for banging someone else's missus, no cash involved on that score I believe. :D

With new movies coming out to continue or complete a movie series, Mr. Sandi and I have been on a kick to watch the movies preceding the current or upcoming release. Last week we watched the first four Indiana Jones movies. Tonight we watched the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and the second one is next on our list. :)

We're finding it particularly interesting to see how movie-making and acting has changed since the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, came out in 42 years ago back in 1981!

This place is not that far from me, in fact I rode passed it on Friday.
There's usually a few cars parked on the forecourt but nothing interesting this time. Not been on auction day but have visited the shop - it really is full of tat! Cheap repro oil cans and fake tin signs.

We're going to watch Adam my grandson perform in Matilda next friday, he's not black, he's actually red. I call him the ginger ninja :D. He's playing the part of Matilda's dad, should be really entertaining.

I watched the latest part of Indiana Jones. The film was quite good in parts, but it also had some lengths. Without giving too much away, the ending is interesting! ;)

I also watched the first part of "Mission Impossible 7". Tom Cruise at his best. Numerous incredible stunts. The film is very close to reality, sometimes! :D
Unfortunately, the film is shown in 2 parts. 2023 7/1 and 2024 7/2. Of course as a "cliffhanger".

The last week or so, I have been watching a series called "GT Racer". A bunch of rich guys playing with their vintage automotive toys. ...J.D.

Being bored, my wife switched the TV on yesterday just before 1:00 pm to catch the BBC news. When the TV came on it was on channel Film 4 +1 and the scene immediately grabbed our attention. So much so, that we carried on watching. It turned out to be the 2011 animated childrens film Rango. As with many of this type of film it turned out to be very entertaining with it's humour and irony.

Oppenheimer. First time I've been to the cinema in a while. No ice cream lady, no intermission, but still worth a watch. 5/5

Mrs RevPaul and I have recently watched both. To be honest I could take or leave the latest Indiana Jones film, lots of unconvincing rehashes of scenes from the earlier films.

Whereas (IMHO) Mission Impossible 7 was brilliant. The pace mixture of action humour and dialogue was excellent and tackling a real concern about what we can consider real and or safe now that AI is becoming a reality.

The main car chase was exciting and funny, and throughout the film and there were so many references to other classic films or characters; in no particular order here are some that I spotted
    Battleship Potemkin
    The Italian Job
    Knight and Day
    The Great Escape
    Various James Bond films
    Harlequin
    Terminator 2

And in the credits was buried the statement; no ancient roman steps were damaged in the making of this film.

One of the few three hour films that didn't feel like it. Hopefully part two will be just as good.:)
