Other films I remember and liked watching with my children: 'Hook', 'Mrs. Doubtfire', 'The Lion King'

    Funny little story re.Mrs. Doubtfire.
I used to take my son and daughter for piano lessons to this very strict old Headmistress type lady who did actually look a bit like Mrs Doubtfire.
My daughter aged about 6 at the end of her lesson suddenly says "you just look like Mrs. Doubtfire"
Teacher replies innocently "Oh do I, and who's Mrs Doubtfire"
Daughter innocently replies "It's this man who dresses up as a woman"

Out of the mouths of babes!

    Spirited Away.

Before you write it off as a kids cartoon, go look at the reviews on IMDB (8.6/10). These are animation masterpieces by anime director and god - Hayao Miyazaki. I have watched just about all of his work, some crap, but mostly brilliant. My personal favourite is Princess Mononoke, but most of his work is brilliant. The all hand-drawn images are beautiful and the stories spin a fine tale. Porco Rosso is about a pig that flies planes and shoots down pirates whilst being hunted by the italian government !!!! SOund bizarre, but a great watch. My kids grew up watching these, instead of that disney / pixar american pap.
My neighbour Totoro, Nausicca, Howl's moving castle, Ponyo, castle in the sky, all worth a look at. Sometimes over the school holidays, Film 4 show them in the afternoon / early evening.

Saw this last night........mmmmmmmmeeeewwww, twas OK, but not brilliant, usual anti-hero forced to do crime, one last job, pretty girl, family threatened if not, blah, blah, blah. Some really nice car chases but needed at least one more, especially in the final bank job. Didn't look at my watch till about 3/4 of the way through, so not too bad, wait for the DVD release or if nothing else on at the cinema and you have an evening to kill (which I did).

    6.5/10
