^^^. So true buddy. That's why I rode like an idiot trying to get away. Part of me wanted to just park up in a crowded place and face them. But the thought came to my mind, incase if it goes bad and I ended up hurting one of them in the heat of the moment then what???

Funny things is....Had I been caught by the police riding like that then I would have been in a real mess. If I had stopped to face them then who knows how it would have turned out....maybe even more of a mess. What are you supposed to do??? I guess just say to the thieving scums....I know you are a scum and the law will protect you and on your side. I am a decent citizen and don't stand a chance.....here take my bike???? Yeah right...Fat chance

I wonder how difficult it wuld be to fix up a can of oil lube to just behind the number plate and with a push of a switch the oil gets sprayed over the thieving scum behind you....

Advice I was given if you suspect a bike jacking attempt in progress is to find a well lit place where there are people about, park up and quickly put the key in your pocket. Without the key the jackers can't take the bike. Then phone police then phone to get someone to come out and accompany you home, car or bike. Worst case the jackers get the bike, you get insurance without risking your life trying to out run them.

Quite a few years back in my scooter days, me and all my mates had 2 stroke gilera runners (yob machines i know) which where relentless being targetted day and night whether parked up or whilst you were on them! one night i parked my bike in my front garden, had anchors back and front with chains locking both wheels (i thought) unfortunately that night i had forgotton to lock the bike(grr) and i woke up to find no bike! one thing i always done was take off the spark plug cap as they were so easy to black box and ride off.
as soon as i realised it was gone the next morning my dad and i walked round looking to see if it has been dumped, lone behold it was in the next side road off the main except all that was left was the frame and front wheel, they even took my pro taper handlebars! panels gone as well as the engine. These bastards were fully equipt to remove the whole engine block although it was as easy as unbolting the shock and main bolt through the frame and ripping the wiring it just showed how desperate the theives were to steal tuned 2 stroke engines.. never heared anything back from the old bill they were useless as im sure you all know.

I totally agree with everything you all have said its so frustrating to see the lack of action the police take i really do wish there was a vigilante group who could legally teach these theives a lesson. i shall dream on!

Luckily enough i learnt my lesson early and know full well if they want it theyll have it.
Fortunately i work in an industrial estate with a fair amount of gates and shutters which get locked at 7 o clock, also got a tracker on it for peace of mind... have to drive to my bike to ride it but rather that than leave it outside my house every night to be targetted!

^ I feel under dressed if I don't have 2 pistols upon me when I leave home. I live in the still Wild West where Mexicans will steal anything on wheels. Castle doctrine is extended to any motor vehicle so we can legally terminate hijackers in Arizona. I would blow a gasket if I lived under some of your great nation's laws.

Mr. Plod's lack of response to motorcycle theft is internationally shared seems to me.

No worries DD, my mucker over there told me I likely own more armaments than your local Plod force :). I'll come bust you out like in the old Spaghetti Westerns. Honestly I was shocked to find out that even my usual folding pocket knife (not to mention an automatic knife which I think is the perfect one hand recue tool if it comes with a carbide tipped pommel for glass breaking) could get me a trip to Plod Force holding cell. What a world.

    Buddy^^^

If you get caught with any form of pocket knife, you will have one helluva explanation to give to our old Bill. Anything larger than a pocket knife, there is a good chance you will get to see the inside of our very much sought after British Cells:rolleyes:

As for guns......no need to say. Keys are likely to be thrown away for a very long time.

My 1st cousin is a Merseyside police officer. He told me it all depends on the arresting officer n whether you had any previous convictions. I carry a multi tool & a little torchlight in my back pack purely for emergency bike repair purpose. Should I get in trouble with a criminal, I honestly wouldn't have the time to dig through my backpack to pull the tool out. I will just need to rely on my legs being able to run faster than him o_O

    Story of our lives :(

10 Years ago a guy I knew stopped a thief from stealing his car. The perp pulled out a screwdriver on him. So to cut the stroy short....the perp received some serious deadly blows which resulted in perp being permanently blinded in one eye and lost his voice. The poor geezer got arrested and during the court sessions.....the judge said all he had was a screwdriver and that he used excessive force on the thief o_O

And the guy was like....what.....All he needed was a screwdriver to end my life :(

Anyways he got off with community service and a record for just trying to protect his hard earned asset

When I was there last year for IOM the only defensive tool I carried (due to your laws) was a small metal flashlight with a serrated lamp bezel and a skull crusher pommel on the other end. It has a strobe effect as well which can confuse the drug addled brains of the aggressive. Was most effective when this neo-Nazi accosted me in a train station restroom. Glad it was just one of those pack rats and not a full crew. He mistook my gray hair and Yank accent as a sign of weakness. Opened his forehead right up and he was a bloody lights out mess; I propped his arse up in the water closet stall, washed my hands and left him there. Did feel under armed on that visit yet generally I find your society to be much more civil than stateside.

PS I felt I should EDIT to add that the train incident happened between Lincolnshire area and London. I rode many of the fine trains on the IOM and would never once want to disparage the fine Manx people or their rail system.

When I worked Central and South America in the 80's it was a common practice for fights involving locals with edged weapons to attempt to slash the forehead of the opponent. Thin skin there yield two things. One is blood in the eyes makes it hard for the opponent to continue the battle. Second is the ever lasting scar makes the opponent identifiable and the opponent sees each morning in the mirror the errors of his ways. Simple, a tad barbaric but I get the concept.

Car gun, house gun and a "loud knife" next to an auto folder for size comparison. Car gun is a 9mm HK SP5K with laser on vented forend. House gun is a SIG based SBR in 300 Blackout with a AWC suppressor. The loud knife is a North American Arms 5 shot Black Widow in .22 Mag. I live 10 minutes from the largest gun range in North America where I volunteer as an RSO. Come visit us and we can ride Triumphs and experiment with my assortment of kinetic energy devices. Plenty more from FALs to Mini Uzi to the LMT AR 10 your designated marksmen carry. Pistols and revolvers to please any type of shooter. Every forum needs a bad influence from Arizona, lol.

^ Crying shame that the rich traditions of hunting and competitive marksmanship have been throttled back in the UK. Your ability to effectively defend your homes is now in the hands of a disaffected Plod force. Yes, lights and lasers are great deterrents to the thieves. The flash, the bang and the lead pill for the win!
Even in the US there are areas of extreme gun control. It is always noted that were guns are banned only the criminals have guns. Look at Chicago for gun violence statistics as our current example. We call that city Chiraq these days.
Got stopped for speeding 2 years back. Mr. Plod says, "any weapons in the truck?". I replied in the affirmative. He then asks, "Why do you carry two guns?" I cheekily replied, "I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy". He laughed his a$$ off.
Then he goes, "no really, why?" Well I replied that I live out in the country and, "when seconds count, the cops can be there in minutes". He got my point. I have always had a CCW permit all of my adult life though here in Arizona no permit is even needed to carry concealed.

Sincere hopes a cure for scooter theft will float to the surface over there and the little darlings get schooled or locked away. Frustrating stuff that is.
