Being introduced to a whole new vocabulary here...

"pressure heads consider skimmers to be targets that just haven't been sunk yet" o_O

Work that one out without context?

You've pretty much got it in one there, Vulpes.
It's a bit of inter Navy banter, between the submarine branch, (pressure heads) and us surface fleet, (skimmers, or targets). 10 out of 10.

So it's true you do all take turns in the barrel  Joking aside I have much respect for those who go down beneath the waves, reminds me of that other joke, What's long and full of seamen.

I never had any desire to go on a submarine, and thankfully never got put on one. I had a couple of invites to go visit, but never took em up.

There are still plenty of great riding roads out west, few coppers except on the summer bank holidays and then mostly on the llandovery Brecon abergavenny road, the scamera vans are hardly ever out, always in the same places when they are, mostly in 30mph villages, apart from some muck on the roads and occasionally some sheep, fast sweeping bends abound, but you don't need a superfast rocket ship for them, middleweight up to a 900 is about right imo

Im in East Yorkshire too and have to say the roads here are like billiard tables to those in Southampton and most of Hampshire where i grew up! Though the ones between Walkington and Beverley are a bit bumpy and crap!

I think we have all ask ourselves this when we're out on our bikes on a good day, with good weather and clear roads rolling on and off the throttle... 'how could you ever need / want more than this?'. I know I've said it time and time again; on my my old 600, on my old 900 triple, on my liter bike, on my speed. If I had never tasted the liter bike I would have never bought one... but I did, so now it is, unfortunately, my bar.

I think the speed is such a good compromise; enough tq & power where you're not getting left behind on group rides, grip and suspension for days, & good ergo's. My R1 begs to be absolutely flogged every time I take it out; the fact that it'll wind out 1st gear to 100mph is absolute lunacy but another reason why I absolutely love it

Well, I suppose there still is that feel of power above recommendations from our government and no matter what the roads or traffic are like. I suppose its like country’s of the world agreeing to giving up and not to have nuclear power but on the quiet..........

To me it’s not about top speed...I like that feeling like you’ve been kicked up the jacksie when you twist the throttle open at whatever speed you might be doing.

Yes totally agree. I enjoy that push out of the bends, in fact in all fairness I’m not actually that bothered about thraping it’s arse on the straights it just tight bends I like and a bike with a bucket full of torque.
