Eh Up Red Thunder, I am riding the 2016 S model and at 225 lbs. the suspension sucked for my weight. Now as far as value goes I spent $ 1,800 USD to upgrade the suspension with K-Tech front and Maxton rear. I ride it with vigor and the difference with the upgrade is transformative. If you have the extra cash seek out an R is my 2 cents.

Ey Red Thunder I haven't owned my R for long but I absolutely love it so far. Funny thing was when I went to the dealer it was to look at an S model, then I saw the R. The condition was just so much better and imo it was the better deal. What I can tell you is over here the demand for the R models is greater and they are scarce. When you do get one they are pricey yet they don't stand long. I've been eyeing them for long and could never get a clean one with low miles at the right price that was until now. Went I went to fetch it from the dealer he asked me to give him first option should I wish to part with it again. They are in demand for sure !! Good luck with your decision.

I have had 3 speeds including the new s model . All non R .I read bad reviews in the mags however in my opinion I found it decent . I done several track days at Knockhill and never found it lacking .I sold my 2016 s model after 6 months for a BMW s1000r and I am going to be changing back to a new S model .I suppose everybody likes different things out suspension . The main reason I have not bought the new R version is purely down to colour and my dealer is doing superb deals on the s model . I do ride the bike hard and have never felt the suspension holding me back.

    Hi there
I have gone from a yamaha fz1 to a speed trip r being only 10st soaking wet took a little bit of tweaking to get the suspension set so I wasn't like a jack in the box on bumpy roads but it's awesome bit of kit now it's sorted

I test rode an R but am buying the the S. I found the price difference was too much for just an Ohlins shock and some 'pretty' bits, plus I'm not a fan of the matt finish and mismatched colour panels that Triumph use on the R.
I have ordered the Arrow low boy for it, as it is a full system and removes the Cat.

    TC,
Nice choice. I picked up my R yesterday (grey). Managed to get 120 miles on it so far. Running in is a pain!
I have the high level Arrows, quick shifter, rad guards and screen extension on mine. What a cracking bike it is.
the build quality is just awesome. If it is new, be careful with the brakes they are poor from new.

The demo bike had the twin Arrows, sounded really nice !:)
I wasn't going to go for the Quickshifter but, thanks to the deal Bulldogs offered me, I've gone for one.
Also gone for the seat cover/bellypan (std on the R), as well as fly screen, engine protectors and Evotech tail tidy.
I'm also switching the plate on my Tiger across to the Speed as it spells JEEP and guess what four wheeled tank I have? :D

It's touch and go whether it will be ready for the Bank Holiday weekend, but fingers crossed.

Small world. I got mine from Steve at Bulldogs also. He turned mine round in a week, it was in his showroom though!

The tail tidy is next on my list as the stock one is a shocker!

We should meet up fro a ride some time looks like we are both in the Reading area.

I got the R model, and the suspension is fantastic. However the front is still undersprung for my weight.

With my gear on i come in at about 210 pounds ( 15stone) depending on how wet my hair is, and i had to turn the front preload all the way in to stop it from bottoming out.

Once i did it worked great but i do think i will need a stiffer spring.

This one is in the showroom. But with the bits I've ordered and fitting, it'll be about a week as they're already busy punting out new bikes.

I'm trying to find out if the Arrow low boy has a baffle in it before I fit it as it a complete system replacement and I want to be able to tone it down if I can, the sales guy's weren't sure.

I regularly ride down to Loomies or Departure Lounge for brekky at the weekends, you're welcome to join us.
We normally meet at the BP station near Asda in Lower Earley.

Bruce at Hughenden M40 swears by the Remus Hypercone as a fantastic alternative to the Arrow low boy.
Paying in the region of £500 depends on stainless steel, black or Titanium.

    The video looks good

The Arrow lowboy is straight through (you can see through it) but its not noisy.

I was/am considering the all black one, the shape allowing it to be shorter and contoured to the lean angle, not that I would ever be likely to reach that angle.
