Bennett’s tried to rip me off AGAIN recently. A phone call got them to knock £160 off the price. Last year the quote went from £250 to £990 and they got a strongly worded phone call before they miraculously got a cheap quote.

Also watch for the small print. They changed the policy wording so that the bike isn’t covered at home within 500m (I think) if not locked in a garage... so if it got nicked as you were cleaning it, you wouldn’t be covered!

    Stupid policy....

I got them to try another broker and now can leave the bike outside unlocked (I won’t, but could) and the price is cheaper! Madness I call it Madness.

Also don’t think it’s necessarily cheaper to have a low stated mileage. That’s possibly a con so if you exceed it you have to phone up and pay an admin fee to change it... just go high.

When I bought my Speedmaster last year used the insurance link on Triumph's website and ended up with a very expensive quote displayed on an Adrian Flux web site. So yes, I guess Triumph Insurance is Adrian Flux.

No need to guess, on the web site it says "Triumph Insurance is a trading name of Adrian Flux Insurance Services Group..."

i think over all the years i've had bike insurance there has maybe been 2 or 3 times when come renewal the premium has been the same, If insurance companies would keep the price the same as the previous year (or slight increase allowing for inflation) i'm sure no one would bother spending ages getting other quotes every year, but thats not going to happen:(

Here in the colonies its the same. When i got the Triumph my home/car insurance company quoted $900 for a basic policy. Thats nuts as 3 cars was $1200. Then called Geico ins and the same coverage was $250! Last year I acquired an nice older beemer for long trips. Geico ins was $38 extra ( a Year!) for the second bike. Every other year I shop Insurance companies, many times i find same coverage at much better prices. They basically rely on us being lazy and just paying up year after year.

I had a similar thing with them; bought a new car three months into a policy and phoned them to change it over. They took all the details and told me it was all sorted.
Nine months later they sent me a renewal for my old car so I called again. Turned out that they’d never changed my policy despite having the details of the new car on file and I’d not been insured on the new car.
Goes to show that ANPR isn’t that effective or I’d just been very lucky! :grinning:

Just renewed my car insurance - we had a multi-car policy which was quoted as being £350 more than taking the insurance out separately on four cars. I phoned up and complained and they dropped the price by just under £400!

Why don't they do that from the start? And save me the hassle of getting quotes and hassling one of their advisors for an hour!

I was chatting to someone that worked in insurance and they said that these compare companies are a pain as the insurance company spends its first years profits in commission and only starts making money in year two... I'd have thought that once you have a customer you work a little harder to keep them then!

    Muppets.

Oh - the idiot insurance company I used was Admiral. The idea of a multi-car policy is that you get aggregated discounts - damned if that works...

Unfortunately if there had been reason to use the insurance they would probably have kicked off about it saying that it would have been your fault for not checking the updated policy. Although they do record calls but I don't know how long they keep them.

They're slipperier than an eel in a bucket of KY Jelly - with a high voltage electrode stuffed up its arse. On reflection, some people would pay good money for that service... Each to their own.

I have just had the renewal for my speedmaster, It was £112 last year with Hastings Direct, this year they wanted £165!!
I went on Bikesure comparison site and got a quote of £98.00, guess who from?
YES... Hastings Direct, so I phoned them up and told them the story and they dropped it to £98.00 without any question.

It’s full comprehensive and covers market value of the bike and no limit for other parties. I am 70 which helps so younger riders can pay double that. I also pay no excess on a claim.
We are constantly astonished at the prices of everything in England

Sounds like the insurance game is no better than it is on our side of the pond. I have 3 old bikes and I'm a pensioner with 49 years riding experience. I got fed up this year and parked two of my bikes. I plan to just rotate them. Every year I'll ride a different one. I'm not going to pay the $275us they want for just liability coverage only. ...J.D.

An update if anybody’s still interested - Carole Nash dropped their quote for renewal a little; LV came out at around the same. Tried Bennett’s online quote - a lot less with better cover and add ons. Go figure
