Im being told I can't get my tiger insured as it's not garaged!! It's kept on my drive round the back of a shed with a car parked on front of it. It's more secure than the bike in the shed!

I bought my last insurance from Hastings via Comparethemarket. It cost £180. But I get two for 1 cinema tickets each week. By the time my year is up my insurance will equal what I've saved in cinema tickets.

So I've insured for free. Lol. Plus I got a free meerkat toy.

We are literally being screwed down by these people.
I had declarations for mileage, passengers & had to show them the installation invoice for the datatool yet had I of been a member of the local bowling club I'd of probably got the same discount off again as the bloody thing that's helping it not being nicked!!
    It is damn infuriating!!!!!!!
They have far,far too much influence on us a motorists thats for sure.

For some reason crispey tigers are troublesome to insure.. I've found that too...other members on here talk about paying £180.00, for us London boys I think the decimal point is in the wrong place. If you have adequately secured your bike then the policy should reflect that & for us it doesn't.

Haha great! :p. Insurance companies. Remember. All our calls are recorded for your safety oh and did you know we can insure your cat/gerbil/shower curtain at a great price?
Only yesterday after receiving a hilarious quote from Carol's Gash I got a text offer for lawn mower insurance or some shit. Not happy with poking your fucking eyes out with a stick with dog shit on it they spam you as well.

I've only had my thruccy a couple of weeks and wanted to add the bike to my existing bike insurance. BikeSure in this case. I filled out a load of stuff online choosing 'locked compound' as where the bike is kept overnight.

We have a car park at the rear of our house and have had it converted in the last 12 months so that it is fenced/gated off from the public and you can't see in. Lockable gates secure it so only myself and the girlfriend can access it from either side.

Bikesure wouldn't offer me insurance there and then so I had to wait for them to call me back. They called me and went over the details I had given. All correct and all the same details as I had used for the other bike they had given me insurance for only a month of so earlier. Now I had to wait again for a call back as they went off to check more details!

10 mins later they call back to say they've looked on google maps and won't offer me insurance as the rear of my property just shows an open car park and not the locked compound I had said it was.

That picture is probably over 10 years old I said. I can send you actual pictures with invoices from the builders to prove the work done.

Bikesure didn't want to listen and then wanted to change the terms of the insurance I had with them for my other bike.

You know what stick your insurance I'll go elsewhere and when I've sold my other bike I'll be cancelling the insurance I have with you.

Which is exactly what I did!

    Thanks for nothing Bikesure.

It is ridiculous that we are treated this way.
A little while ago I went with Bewiser...they gave me a reasonable quote which I accepted ..a week later they ring me up & tell me that they've made a mistake on the registration of the Thruxton...they put it down as a 2002 bike & not a 2012 & that when they put in the right year the insurance had gone up by £400!!! I told them that they didn't make thruxtons in 2002.... They said sorry but there was nothing they could do....fine I said, let's cancel all policies....they said certainly..... That'll be £50 each policy please.!!
After many letters to them & a threat of the ombudsmen they relented & I got most of my money back.....you couldn't make it up sometimes loser...it's that horrendous

They must have had a large number of claims of bikes being stolen from home, I phoned a few companies earlier this year and all quoted either not insured or only half the value insured if stolen within 500m of the house. I must admit I generally don't lock my bike if its on the drive, as its only temporary if going or coming for a ride, or washing, but i do live at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac.
And all companies that quoted multi-bike for a Speed Triple and Aprilia Tuono were all almost half again of insuring the two separate.
I must admit for every insurance, I tour all the compare sites and a couple of others too, then check to see what cash backs are available from the likes of TopCashBack, and make a decision based upon cheapest price for the cover and extras, and any cash back I would get.

It was with GoSkippy? I'd never heard of them but it was fully comp. There were a few companies all offering me insurance around a similar price of £550 and these were one of them.

I ended up paying for the insurance monthly though which has slapped quite a bit extra onto that. But after spending all my money on the bike I didn't have enough for all the insurance money there and then. Well I did, but I fancy being skint for the rest of the month.

I've no idea if it's a good price or not, seemed 'ok' to me but probably a little more than I hoped/expected to pay. Having said that I'd only just passed the DAS the previous afternoon.

The insurance for my 125 Suzuki cost just £100!
