Well, seven days after my supervisor informing me I wouldn't have a job come August I landed a new job with a local school district ! This job promises to be terrific and right up my professional alley. Yes, sometimes it can be true that "when one door closes another one opens". I am excited, relieved....and so blessed!! :)

    Congratulations Sandi, great news.
I was very lucky too with work. After being voluntarily unemployed for the past two years I’d been looking for a job and was offered one in February and got a start date in March.
Luckily I started on the 23rd of March, the day before our lockdown commenced and am still working (essential worker)
    Pheewww! :grinning:

Thanks, @freck! Yes, what a relief. Plus, as I said, I think my new job will be an even better job fit for me than what I’ve had this year.

I’m glad to read that you also found a job and that you are considered an essential worker through these challenging times. I hope it’s not only an essential job but also a safe one, too. Congrats!

Thanks, @SprinterII! I'm not certain of my exact start date but the school district where I will work has new staff orientation on their calendar around the last week of July. Interestingly, my employment agreement with my current employer (the one who canned me) goes until August 14th and my supervisor said they would honor that. I suspect they would be pretty happy if I gracefully bowed out early so they could save a couple of weeks of my pay. But since both are half time positions, I could theoretically work "full-time" for a couple of weeks and add a bit to my savings which took a hit from medical expenses earlier in the year. We shall see! These days, who the heck knows what will be going on 3 months from now?!
