Not sure about that stigma. However the majority in our current Honda ST-Owners group are older men and thier better halves. There are a few 40-50 year Olds too. One thing I kept in mind with being over 60 years old that I still have fun on the bike. What scares the youngsters is when I catch them in a snap on the straight aways. Haha!
This is my current ride (attached) and I find the ST1300 to be every bit a sporty alternative to a Goldwing. However if your pillion enjoys more comfort and layer back tour then by all means. Honda does make a point with the marketing of the latest Goldwing isn't for old people. They are definitely going after a younger crowd.
    Enjoy what you ride.

It's an issue that the biking population is an aging group. All the manufacturers know it. Lots of this forum's members are over the hill, er, I mean over 60. :D I don't understand it myself - maybe we just need to get more youngsters on two wheels so the bug bites. It's not as if there aren't dozens of great machines to choose from these days. Maybe if they brought out the 'Honda Vegan'...

Considering I've liked the ST since I was in my 20's I was a bit surprised about her comment. It was said in fun but still, that seems to be her perception. It's not as if she has to sit on it - she's got her own bike! I'd still like one for serious touring duty.
