Cheers for the info. The Stafford show sounds a good bet for me - cheers!

Took your advice and rang Nick, then took the plunge, hopefully the vest will be with me on Thursday.
As you said Nick was most helpful and really seems to want the purchaser to be fully satisfied. I was hoping he'd be at the Classic BikeShow at Stafford in April but sadly not this year.

I'll report back when I've tried the vest.

    Cheers

That's great news oldfart! I am glad it was all a good experience.

I wore mine 'for real' for the first time today in fact. I have zero regrets.

As said, I wear a highvis anyway so there's no colourful jump for me, so putting on my high vis airvest was no issue.

Totally unobtrusive. Don't particularly notice it was on. Easily found a frame location for the lanyard. Easy to connect up to 'me'. Job done!

    Very happy.

    Report back!

Can I ask, do you kow if the discount they offer to forum members extends to their ex-rental offerings?

They do look like an interesting proposition - I expect their sales have not suffered at all from the misfortune of the poor guy knocked off his bike in the Peak District by the dipshit running wide in a Subaru.

I guess you'd have to ask...although my feeling is that there were no ex-rentals available.

To be fair, i didn't discuss it at all...but I didn't see any on the website.

We all have our personal circumstances, and I am forever online trying to buy a stainless steel brake bolt for less than this place or that place. Or seeing how I can most cheaply buy brake cleaner...I started doing similar with the vest, but then decided that (for me) trying to save a few pounds on a (potentially) life saving vest was perhaps a misplacing of my energies. Some things I chose not to hunt around for. But I guess I have the cc to put it on, so I fully appreciate others may not be so fortunate...

If you do get one for less.....don't tell me, it'll smart!

That is exactly what I saw that made me start to look that led me to buying one 2 weeks later....

Sorry, I'm not aware of discounts on ex-rentals, he's a good guy so I don't suppose there's any harm in asking

Careful dilligaf...if they tug hard enough it'll inflate most unexpectedly!

Glad to see there is an uptake in these air vests
I have been using mine for quite a while now and putting it on and taking it off is now just part of the routine
It it just one of the things I hope I don't have to use!

Feedback after a half week of use...

I am very happy, no complaints. I forgot to unclip this morning...but all I got was a gentle tug/reminder. No other embarrassing issues. o_O

    Things I have noticed:
My jacket "off the peg" is heavier. This makes sense...as there's a back protector in the vest now (I never had one in my jacket so there is a discernable weight difference to me) but this is not noticed once the jacket and vest are on.

The vest does not restrict any movement when I'm riding. I was concerned the back protector may sit on the seat and so 'ride up' and I may feel it behind my helmet. This does not happen and is all fine.

    Something I really like:
That I can, in my particular case at least, fully access my jacket pockets. A 'normal' highvis would cover my pockets. This vest doesn't.

Something I don't like (but do appreciate):
The clip (to the lanyard) is a tiny bit small for a gloved hand making it ever so, but only ever so fidly to unclip when gloved. Not a hardship. Just an observation. And I am sure it is better it is a good tight fit than a loose one.

So far, so very pleased. :grinning:
