GRAND MEET UP 2017 - KIELDER

Friday 21st to Monday 24th of July 2017

This years event will be based in Bellingham, Northumberland just south of the Kielder Reservoir close to the Scottish Borders. The accomodation available is a bunkhouse at Bellingham, which also offers camping facilities and has a communal area for folk to sit drink, banter and take the piss.

The bunkhouse sleeps up to 15 people, these are divided into 3 rooms of 3, 4 & 8 bed rooms. All bedding is provided, but you have to provide your own teddy bear. The rate is £20 pppn for the bunkhouse. This is now full up.(15/04/17)

    CAMPING

Camping is also available at the same place, and is only £8.00 pppn.

To book camping or the bunkhouse, phone Demesne on 01434 220258. State what nights you wish to stay and provide some method of paying your 50% deposit. Once you have done this, click on Link and complete the form and send. If you paid your deposit on the phone, ignore the next page about payment.

Once you have done this, please update the attendence page, copy and paste the list and select which room you would like to be placed in. Once it's full, it's full.

    CHEVIOT HOTEL, Bellingham

This is for those posh people, who don't want to listen to the plebs snoring and farting through the night ;):D.
    Tel 01434 220696

The Cheviot is also a nice place to eat and drink, and could be used as the pub / gathering place for the weekend.

    Other Accomodation.

There are houses for rent, B&B's and assorted accomodation in Bellingham, I have just sorted out camping and bunkhouse. It would be nice to stay together as a group, but people are welcome to make their own arrangments for the weekend. As long as you come along, all's good.:)

    In the village

Bellingham is a small village, with a Co-op shop, it has a great wee cafe open for breakfasts, a petrol station (one pump, so don't all go on the morning of the runs !!!!). It is small enough for us to keep together, but not on top of each other. Cooking facilities at the bunkhouse, so can buy and prep food if you want. These are not usually for campers, but sure nobody will comment if wanted to use.

Can I ask that we keep banter off of this thread
and keep it on the GMU 2017 BANTER THREAD.

Please post questions and I will answer as and when possible. Or information you would like to share about accomodation. I will post up routes for the rides, etc on here. Hope all this info is correct, apoligise if not and will update as and when required.

Both runs will set off from the Heritage Centre Car park (Carriages Tea Room on the map). This is just up the hill past the bunkhouse. Can you please be there ready for a 10:00 departure (not arriving there at 10:00 !!!)

Approximate timings and stops for the 2 runs on the post below.

Make sure you have 35 mile in the tank at the start of the day. Only if you are desperate do you use Bellingham, he cannot cope with all of us turning up in the morning for fuel. Morrisons at Hawick for Saturday for fuel and a good wee shop / petrol station at Alston on the Sunday, if you want to get food for the ride.

Can eat at a nice cafe at StMarys, or some can carry on to Moffat. We will meet up at the Ram Statue in Moffat to depart. Agree exact timing with lead on the day.

Hartside is a good place to eat, great sausage rolls. Only snacks at the Hadrians wall stop.
