Totally agree with all that Mr O has said on the subject.
I hate camping with a passion. Last time was Carfest South four years ago (damp and uncomfortable) and before that Le Mans 2006 (hot and uncomfortable).
I lay there in a sleeping bag (which I also loathe) and think Morrissey must have had me in mind when he wrote "Heaven knows I'm miserable now" !:cool:

Lads, We can talk about this trip after the GMU . Be this a GMU 2019 or just an Irish Trip.
I will do some research into accommodation and Runs . I think this area is right for anyone who has never been to Ireland or returning. Just have to take pot luck with the weather. I will post my findings on here for your thoughts .
I live on the south east of Ireland but intend to do a few more runs over to Kerry this year ( any excuse) so i will scout the area for venues and see what you think.

i quite enjoyed camping when i used to go to rallies,,i think the drink helped though..plus my one touch tent was a breeze to put up:),but nowadays i'm like @steve lovatt B&Bs or cheap hotels would be my first choice or good bunkhouse/hostels.
i would make a holiday of it though and go for at least a week as there are so many great roads in Ireland it would be a crime to go all that way just to do a few runs

Depends if it was for a GMU or an Irish road trip? if it was for a road trip we would be staying in different places every night and i imagine 15 would be plenty, as for the scottish one we had 10 people plus 2 came for a days run..saying that i only organized it with a few months notice and once we had 10 folk i didn't push for more folk as i thought 10 was a good number for a road trip.
For a GMU there might be more than 15 interested in a bunkhouse?,although i've a feeling when i suggested ireland last year there wasn't a huge interest as folk thought it would be too far and too expensive what with the ferry costs for just a few days away...so your guess is as good as mine!

if it's like Scotland May is your best bet..it might be an idea once this years is over to put up a poll and try and get an idea of numbers before looking at venues

Like that idea Dougie I’d possibly be tagging an Irish Road Race meeting on the end or at the start, love those ‘racing between the hedges meetings’ :imp::cool:

Then you'll not get the accommodation. If you tie it to an event, you have to remember there are all the competitiors and support looking for accommodation.

    Choice down, price up.

If the GMU 2019 is in Ireland and the race dates are the weekend before or after the GMU I don’t think there will be a problem.
You tend to get more locals/day visitors than visitors at these race meets unless it’s a meet like the North West 200
The riders and support crews tend to live in motor homes or caravans in the race paddock.

Not had a problem booking accommodation before so long as you don’t leave it to late.
