    GRAND MEET UP UPDATE

Well it’s almost exactly 6 months until the next GMU in Wales and if my figures are correct then we have 24 signed up to attend.

10 stopping in the Mount Inn Hotel, 7 in the Trewythen Hotel and 7 in the Bunkhouse. So it’s looking good to exceed last years numbers.

Whilst 6 months is a long way off, it will come round quickly, there are already no more rooms left in the Trewythen Hotel. So if you are thinking of coming along then please book now or you may end up disappointed or staying further afield than you would like.

I would particularly like to encourage those who intend to stay in the Bunkhouse to book ASAP so we can guarantee sole occupancy for our group. Only a small deposit is required.

For any of the new forum members not sure about this event, then please put any doubts behind you, we are very friendly group and most of us don’t know each other either, so don’t think you won’t be made welcome as you definitely will.

This is the link to the accommodation thread where you can find out about where to stay. Hotels, Bunkhouse of Camping to suite all tastes and pockets.

Is anyone riding up from the East Sussex area / South East to the Wales GMU? If I’m going to get lost, I’d sooner blame someone else that’s all

Brew 11, brewed for the men of the Midlands. God awful.

Anyone remember Whatneys Star Light? Weaker than diluted shandy. Tasted like weak cold tea someone had pissed in. Actively unpleasant.
At least a party seven got you in to a party. Unlike this foul tasting stuff with the kick of watered down shandy which was the session beer in the Open Hearth when I was learning to drink. You could go to school next day and proudly boast of the six pints you'd drunk the night before, although to be honest we soon learned that Guinness was the drink of choice during those dark days of fizzy keg ale . According to the Sunday Mirror, who analysed it in 1971, it could have been legally sold in the USA during Prohibition.

If I remember correctly the marketing slogan was “Drink Watneys Star Light. It's like making love in a boat – f***ing close to water!”
