I've used leather gardening gloves in the past, they were very good!

Beilstein and Cocham today after a damp start. Tourist magnets in high summer and no vehicles allowed in Beilstein so car park normally full.

Enjoy Germany I went there a couple of years ago on my R1 did the RING but the roads around it were bl##dy amazing
Would love to do it again but wouldn't bother with RING as German roads and the people who drive them
Are very aware of us bikers I even had a coach pull over for us to let us pass "fantastic"

Very biker friendly - almost every guest house, cafe and restaurant in the Model has a sign outside " biker wilkommen"

The thing is as I've found when your there, there's no need to book accommodation just turn up when your ready and it's so relaxed not like over at home where it becomes a panic. I tried telling my wife that but she can't get her head round it.
Trouble is that we once saw a guy on an old 94L reg Honda 750 pull up at the side of the road dressed in an old mucky yellow steam cleaning coat with a piss pot helmet on then he asked us as we came out from a shop if they sold socks as his feet were piss wet through as he spend the night in a bus shelter. But that was cos he couldn't get access to his finances so was living rough and my wife always has that image burned in her head.

Update on the Germany tour - back home after 1370 miles in total.

Saturday morning - early, damp and very cold trip over the Hunsruck (low mountain range between the Mosel and the Rhine).

Broke the home journey by cutting through Luxembourg on the way to Bastogne in Belgium. Stopped at the Bastogne War Museum (there are several but this was brilliant, along with the Mardasson Memorial). If you've watched Band of Brothers you'll know what it's all about.
IMG_20150621_154029666_HDR.jpg Bit wet but the sun came out - nice touch inside the museum - free lockers for bike gear and secure helmet storage in a dedicated room!

Hours delay stood in the rain at the tunnel.

Did that and it needed it after the wet trip through Belgium and the wet roads into Calais (at least I missed the delays by 24 hours - phew!). Felt sorry for the Trident, so washed that as well.

I reckon you were very brave to take this on - deep end stuff - but now you have found the joys of motorcycle touring you be off again soon.

Yes I will! Might change a few things next time - probably take less stuff, and probably not go with open face helmet and goggles!

Yes they bloody do! How do they find that small gap between the top of the goggles and the bottom of the helmet?
