Cheers Lou ,i can see that it would get addictive..my wife might not be pleased about that though I'd have to earn extra browny points! I'd be stopping of at the Harz mountains as I've been browsing the web and it looks good there, I've also found a good bikers b&b/hotel there that's run by bikers with a lot of good reviews,so probably spend 2/3 days exploring that area before heading on to the GP

Hi Dougie i run trips from Edinburgh several times a year for cost into Europe (I have 3 trips to Alps with clubs this year)

If you fancy coming along for next year be more than welcome and I can do 10 days for about £900ish total with accommodation about £320 of that.

Covers Firkir passes, Stelvio Pass, Grossknockler, Ace Cafe Luzern, Black Forrest, Nurburgring and home 10 days ;)

I just do it for fun for about 11 years now as just a bunch of mates touring and some laughs.

Got a network of hotels now and routes for pretty much anywhere

Hi Madscots - just noticed that you joined yesterday so welcome to the forum.
Only been to Europe once on a bike (Germany last year - Mosel Valley on a Bonneville) hopefully off to France this summer with a mate - it is addictive!
Luckily live less than 2 hours from the Tunnel but I won't mention that!

2 hours from tunnel................. so easy to go off people lol

I run tours to Eifel region and is one of the best places for biking, I have friends who own a hotel a few miles from the Nurburgring (Am Tunnel Motor hotel) and can't beat turning up on Rocket in Cochem for Ice cream :D

If you want a pointer for France the best place I have ever stayed in is Ridersrest and is completely surrounded by amazing roads. The owner is English and an amazing place in itself to stay as completely set up for bikers. If I can help with routes or anything please let me know as happy to share if it helps.

That sounds even better,i'll have to get details from you of the trips you're organizing for next year. it's all sorted now that we are going to the Sachsenring Gp in July so i will be taking my bike while the others take the plane,I've been looking at a place to stay in the Harz mountains for a few days, Hotel Harmonie seems to be a popular place but i haven't booked anything yet, Then I'll meet up with the rest of them in Chemintz or at least I'm thinking that would be the best place to stay for the Gp,

Just think of the ferry as the real start to the holiday Park the bike up. Climb the stairs sit back relax have a beer and watch Newcastle disappear into the distance thinking holidays are here. The chances are there will be plenty of other excited bikers on the ferry that you can talk too...

just been on the site and tried to download the basic version i got as far as saving and running the file then after a few minutes a box came up saying incompatibity (that's not a typo, must be a computer term!) with 64-bit version of windows. then the computer froze and i had to do the control/alt/delete to start task manager to stop tyre running.i have windows 7 and the latest internet explorer is installed as they say it needs, so i haven't a clue whats the problem.i have garmin basecamp installed so i will maybe just have to spend a few hours on it and see if i can get my head round it..or just use the good old map!

Hi Dougie, I have stayed at the hotel harmonie in the Harz, the owner is a great guy and takes his clients on ride outs free as long as he isnt held up( he is a quick rider ex mcn journo) please give my regards to him and his wife for me. Ref Garmin issues, Basecamp is crap I use myrouteapp.com. You can lay your route save it in a gpx file and copy it to your garmins sd card job done, hope that helps regards Lou
